Hey there,

I left the charging stand at home, so all I have is the gumstick battery... which is completely drained now.

I also don't have my AA battery case either...

So, is there ANYTHING I can do to be able to listen again (besides through the computer speakers)???

Man, I really wish these things charged through USB, ahhh!

Thanks,

jx

I don't have the stand, or the AC adapter, I meant to mention.

I need a different way to charge the unit.

I was thinking... The AA battery compartment plugs into those two holes in the bottom of the unit...

What if I rigged up some thing with a AA battery that would connect it the same way??

With wire or something...

Would that work? Could it harm the player?

I carry a second gumstick. It's surprising how often I need to use it. It was worth laying out the eight quid or so.

Yeah I was thinking about buying another one...

But that will run out in a couple days too...

Has anyone ever tried charging with a AA, does anyone have any knowledge about doing so... without the battery pack?

It seems like it would be possible...

I have a sharp mt877 and an AA battery in the battery pack WILL recharge the gumstick, though i suppose it will stop charging at an equilibrium state... But i don't know if it'd be a good idea to hook up wires to that thing.

Yeah, maybe not...

But maybe someone has tried something along those lines...

Because it doesnt seem like the AA battery pack has any special regulating circuitry or anything like that... seems like it just sucks the juice out of the battery and pour it into the unit through those two holes on the bottom..

It was possible to charge my N710 with two AAs and wires into the sockets where the charging electrodes would go. I never bothered but it was nice to know it was possible. When my new NH900 arrives I'll check cos the 8-10 hour battery life isn't so good. I imagine it's possible and I don't think it would harm the player (but it's not my player...) - just two AAs in series and wires into the sockets

I will assume that you have access to your local Radio Shack, Target, K-Mart or whatever. NH900 can be charged with a normal AC adaptor, and most stores these days sells a kit for $20-30. Match the proper polarity, voltage and amp, and you got yourself a charging kit for your NH900.
