Question

Hi there,

I just have come back from Japan where I bought the 20G Vaio Pocket.

I am not very handy with these devices so I thought everything will be ok.

First, I found that the software was in japanese, of course :(, but after some tries, somebody from the office in Japan managed to set the language into Spanish.

Now I am back at home and I had an ugly surprise when I found I cannot transfer mp3 or atrac files to the hdd in the vaio pocket.

I tried to update the sofware etc but I still have a message saying that the device is not compatible with the transfer software, music move or sonicstage.

I have the 3.0 version firmware in the vaio and the sonicstage is 2.3, I tried with 2.2, and 3. something but nothing.

Could you please help me out??

If this is already answered somewhere please attach the link to the topic.

Thanks a lot!!!

Welcome to ALC!

The VAIO Pocket can be used with all regional SonicStage version. Please update to SonicStage 3.2.

Hi again,

it didn't work. I have the following message displayed once the sonicstage v 3.2 is installed.

The connected ATRAC Audio Device must be initialized to be used with the currently installed SonicStage.

What this means? I don't mind to have the mp3 back to japanese again, I just want to use it since is imposible for me to go back to japan just to return this device :)

Thanks for your time. Actually, there is no possibility to just copy paste songs in the HD of the Vaio Pocket?

The connected ATRAC Audio Device must be initialized to be used with the currently installed SonicStage.

What this means?

To initialize your VAIO Pocket, please follow the instructions outlined below:

*Note: If you initialize an ATRAC Audio Device, all the data recorded on the ATRAC Audio Device is deleted. If the device contains tracks transferred from another computer or tracks with restrictions on the number of times they can be transferred, be sure to transfer those tracks back to the original computer before proceeding. Tracks transferred from your computer are automatically transferred back to My Library while initializing.

1) Connect the ATRAC Audio Device to your computer. The screen is switched to the Transfer (ATRAC Audio Device) screen.

- If the screen does not switch, or you have to switch it manually, point to the Transfer button and select "ATRAC Audio Device."

- If the "Automatic Transfer Settings" dialog box appears, click "Cancel."

2) Click on the "Controls" menu, point to "Device/Media," and click "Initialize." A dialog box appears for confirmation to proceed.

3) Click "Yes." A dialog box appears for reconfirmation.

4) Click "Yes." The ATRAC Audio Device is initialized.

Notes

- To prevent hardware damage, do not disconnect the ATRAC Audio Device from your computer while initializing.

- While initialization is in progress, your computer cannot go into hibernation or on standby.

For future reference, please utilize SonicStage's help archive for any reference pertaining to software usage - it can be accessed via "Help--> SonicStage Help" or simply press F1 once you load SonicStage 3.2.
