Hack Mz-n707 Type-r

Hi,

I Hack-ed my MD, MZ-N707 Type-R, like the way on this site. It's been done ok. The software seems to have the function to switch to line- and headphone-out. But it's not really switching electrical. Nothing is chancing at the output itself! I really like to have a recording output because I only want to record and get it in to my computer for editing. When I both the 707 I didn't realise that the USB was a input only. I do not want to record from a headphone output because it’s normally the wrong impedance and will give to much noise. Is there not a way to Hack the USB so you can upload to the PC?

Not really. The N707 lacks the internal circuitry of the higher end models to switch the impedence of the output. The best the hack can do is to turn the volume up and EQ settings off. You could of course do that without the hack, but its handy to have it in a single operation...

I don't think there's any way to hack the USB to output, and SonicStage etc. won't recognise NetMD devices for playback....

Basically it sounds like you should have got the NH900 or at least NH700...

The headphone output of my MZ-N510 has a very low output indeed, but with the volume all turned up it gets to an acceptable level for recording on PC. I don't hear any noise or coloration due to impedance differences.
