zalluma Posted April 8, 2005 Report Share Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) hello every one!I am happy with this new hi md generation which can play mp3,...I wanted to buy an hi md buy i did not like the option of not playing the mp3's,I would like to know how many hours will hold an 80 min minidisc if you load it with 192kbs mp3's? and what about the 1gb disc?a 700mb cd-r will hold about 9hrs of mp3's at 192kbs compression.... thanks! bug80 Posted April 8, 2005 Report Share Posted April 8, 2005 Well, let's see.A 192 kbs MP3 will give you 60*192000/(8*1024*1024) = 1.373 MB per minuteA 80 min MD disc reformatted as Hi-MD is 300 MBSo, with 192 kbs MP3's, 218 minutes of music will fit on the disc. However, the real value will be lower because some extra information besides the audio data will be stored on the disc.A 1 GB disc will give you 1024 MB / 1.373 MB/min = 746 minutes Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
