Recording To Mz-r37

As a novice to the mini disk world, i couldn't find nor a way neither a solution to my problem, as follows:

I'd like to use an old mz-r37 mini disk as an efficient playback device for music on my cd's or any other music staff i have on my pc.

I do have also, a new mz-nhf800 mini disk which, i guess, will help as being a "recording station" in order to achive that goal.

I have sonicstage 3.0 and simple burner 2.0 installed.

any guidelines on how to do it? I'm quite lost, as i'm looking for a way doing it other than connecting the analog cable to the r37, which works ofcourse, but spends a lot of space, i guess.

Many thanks, and sorry for a silly question (if it is) :-)

if i understand you right, you want to use your nhf800 to record, and then play it back on that mz-r37.

first you need to know, that the mz-r37 is not capable of reading "hi-md formatted disks". this device can only read usual mds that are not reformatted to hi-md.

you can use your nhf800 to make readable discs for the r37 if you select "md mode" either in sonic stage or on your unit. (depending on if you want to transfer via usb or actually record on the unit). however you'll only get the usual 80 minutes out of one disk.

it doesn't actually take more space, you just get less space out of one disk, and you only have one codec ( sp that is)

And remember, you can't use the (black 1GB) Hi-MD discs in the R-37. But basic 74-minute MDs will work.

If you're doing a transfer from the PC to the NHF-800 via the USB cord, with Sonic Stage or Simple Burner, make sure (under Settings) that the files are being transferred to SP format, not LP2, LP4, or anything else.

With Simple Burner, you pop a CD in the computer and transfer it to the MD. With Sonic Stage, you put a CD in the computer, copy it into My Library in Sonic Stage, and then transfer it to the MD.

you've got black hi mds ? i thought, there were only blue ones ? blink.gif

all 'old school md' will work (60/74/80minutes)
