pegasus88
I've never dealt with an MD before, and am not a computer/IT pro.Recently I've looked over many many MD/SonicStage related topics over many different forums. And understand that many people are having similar problems to this one I'm encountering. I've heard that Realplayer is capable of transfering music from computer to NetMD, so I've tried it.However, it did not work out. So seems like I can never get my MD connected to my computer successfully. I'm using a window XP, and right now I'm trying to update my Sonicstage to the version (the one that's recommended in a pinned post that I've noticed in the forum). And my MiniDisc model is MD WALKMAN MZ-NF520DSo, what's going on here, do you know? Thanks for viewing this post. Here's how the Realplayer NetMD look likeMy SonicStage
A440
My guess is that Realplayer is trying to transfer MP3s, and your MD doesn't play MP3s, only ATRAC files. You might as well stick with SonicStage. At the moment, it looks like you're currently using some ancient version of OMG Jukebox, a software disaster. Take a look at this:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071and manually delete the directories and registry keys as it suggests if they are in your computer. Then install SonicStage 3.0 or 3.1 . See if that fixes things, if not post again.
gigolo
Have you add your device with "Tools /Add a new device" menu ?If your device is still not detected after that, maybe it is not supported by Real Player. Any idea?

pegasus88
What if I do not have the driver for NetMD?Actually I'm way too stupid to know what "driver" really means...sorryI think I got it now. So I'm guessing I don't even have the driver. Here's the case, I just borrowed the MD from my cousin, the whole package only includes a USB, the Mini Disc player, 2 cd-roms (SonicStage; ...Simple Burner)Q1: Am I really missing a driver?Q2: If so, why isn't it included in the MD package, and is there a way I can reach it? I'm really hoping to get this whole thing done. I've already spending so much time on this
Syrius
Install the latest updates for your OS AND Direct X 9. Then install SS 3. Then reboot, then try connecting your MD.

Christopher
OS = operating system, aka windowsupdate.microsoft.com, click on express install and install anything it finds. Actually, why don't you read the rules at the top of the forum and post accordingly.

I did read most posts already and have followed most instructions/suggestions already (uninstalling a couple of softwares and delete SS in the registry and updating SonicStage to the newest version, , and also checked the Windowsupdate already, so far no updates available at this time))Now I'm stuck at the process of installing SonicStage 3.0 or 3.1, it tells me the intstallation is terminated. So what can I do now??Thanks. Edited April 25, 2005 by pegasus88
A440
First, don't worry about a driver, it's included in SonicStage. A driver is the way your computer communicates with an external device, like a printer or the MD. OMG Jukebox is the prehistoric version of SonicStage, and it was probably on the CD--don't worry about that either, as long as you've uninstalled the directories from the FAQ. Unplug everything from your USB ports in case that's confusing SonicStage. Are you running a lot of other things simultaneously on your computer while trying to install SonicStage? An e-mail client, other browser windows, a music player? Some of them probably start automatically with your computer. Look in the taskbar (probably lower right on Windows) and if you have Realplayer, Windows Media Player, Winamp, Outlook, etc. running, right-click on them and Close or Exit them. They'll restart the next time you reboot your computer--you're just getting them out of the way for the Sonic Stage installation. See if that helps. But I've got the original NetMD and an old version of SS cd-roms now, and I had it installed successfully. However, I have recorded my music successfully on my MD now.THANK ALL OF YOU PEOPLE's SUGGESTIONS HERE! Thanks! WOO-HOO~
