Strange Error During Upload

Ok, here's the deal...

just got home from a show and i went to upload my recording. I split the recording into 2 tracks- the opening act (1 hour 50 minute) and the main show (quite a bit longer than that).

I went to upload via sonicstage. I selected the first track and it went ahead and began uploading. After a few minutes, I get the following error:

So, i tried to convert the shortened oma file that this fubar upload gave me (it was only like 90mb) and I couldnt.

Weird thing is that I tried to upload this file again and it let me! The disc said it had been transfered, but I was able to transfer it again- only to get the same error again.

Anyone know how to fix this? I'm terrified to try uploading the main show ... I dont want to mess this up.

This is by not a fix but insurance: I would suggest using your Track button to divide those huge files into smaller tracks. That way, if Sonic Stage massacres one the whole concert won't be gone.

I've had my own troubles with Sonic Stage lately, including unexplained error messages like yours, but I've then gone back and uploaded the rest of the concert, skipping the track with the error and using Dex's old TotalRecorder method to get it.

thanks for the input!

Here's something odd. I went to go and do a complete uninstall and fresh reinstall of SS3. SS3 appeared in my add remove programs list, but clicking uninstall did nothing.

So, I popped in my SS3 disc and just tried to do a reinstall. Everything worked fine till it got to the actual installing of Sonic Stage. The progress bar for the sonic stage part of the install hit 100% and then the installer just quit. It gave me a message saying the install was terminated.

Not cool. I've tried just about everything from downloading SS3.1 to redownloading SS3 and trying to install again. Nothing is working.

Any sugestions?

Everything is going fine... the sonicstage bar reaches 100% and right after that I get:

I'd imagine that my inability to reinstall has to do with the problem I had with uninstalling. I've gotten rid of everything sony related on my machine.

This is terribly frusterating. I just need to find out how to wipe away every remnant of this piece of crap.

Zappa,

I am having the exact same problem as you. I just purchased an MZ-RH10, and when I try to upload my mic recordings (Hi-SP) It gets to about 40-50% and then crashes with the same error message.

I have Windows XP, service pack 2, fully patched. 2.0GHz processor and plenty of hard drive space.

I have found that if I record something in PCM it transfers fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is with Hi-SP and Windows.

I'm sorry you're having this problem, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. SonicStage is crap.

How weird!

Sounds like we're in the exact same situation. My recording is in HI-SP as well.

I'm just going to reformat tonight. It's been a long time coming and I figure this gives me the motivation to finally do it. I backed up everything I need on dvd so I'll just wipe it all clean and hope a fresh install helps.

Well, luck still isnt on my side.

I got the same error at the exact same time, so I broke things up into tracks. That worked ok, however when playing all tracks together, there is a slight clip at each track mark (grrrrr).

When I went to transfer the main act of my recording (which I also cut into tracks), the first few songs transfered fine, but then things got bad. Some of the songs started skipping and parts of songs were missing (what the hell). When I got to the 8th track on the recording, I got the same old error message again.

All in all- even on a fresh, brand spanking new install of WIN2k- Sonicstage is an absolute turd!!!!

I figured things might be getting messed up due to a low battery in the player, so I charged it up and I'm going to try doing this again. Worse case scenario- I'll be transfering at 1x via my m audio card. I thought I was done with that when I jumped up to HI MD.

Guess not sad.gif

(nice avatar by the way wink.gif )
