GOONER1066
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have upgraded from 2.3 to 3.1 and have been fairly impressed with the more clearer layout and design. I have noticed one problem though, 3.1 tends to hang for about 20 seconds every time i try and import a CD or change a titles properties. Has anybody else had this problem and does anybody know if is there something in settings that might improve the performance and eradicate these annoying pauses? Silvadragon
not really, its just that SonicStage (if u haven't realised) is very resource intensive. Anyway, what kind of system r u running SS from (e.g the specs of ur computer)? Edited May 13, 2005 by Silvadragon
Ishiyoshi
This is not a problem per se. The pause you experienced is somewhat beyond the norm. When trying to import a CD, a short 1-2 seconds pause occur when SonicStage 3.1 retrieves CD-Text info from the CD itself or CDDB. Editing track titles within the music library takes a mere second to process and about 1-2 seconds for the Hi-MD media.Perhaps you need to review your system specs and tweak a little. In addition, check your system processes and review memory usage accordingly.

My system is fairly high spec with XP, Intel 4, large memory etc, so maybe the memory allocation is perhaps the answer. Can you tell me what i should be looking to change in my memory allocation and where i can find it on my PC?Much appreciated.

However, you can start by reviewing the Windows Task Manager --> Processes Tab by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del; and review the memory usage accordingly. In addition, the following link might be worth a read: The Difference Between System Resources and Memory

Weaves
Hello,I am having a similar problem. I got SS 3.1 installed and imported a cd onto my new 200GB USB drive. The problem occured when I swicthed CD's to import my next CD. SS3.1 never recognized the new CD. I even clicked on "Get CD INfo" and it displayed the old CD info. I clicked on play cd and the new CD started playing fine, but with the old song titles The only way I got it to work, was to close out SS3.1 and re-open with each new CD. I will give it a try today, but that was as of last night. Anyway, here are my specs:Dell P4 2.6ghzWindows XP SP21.5 Gb RAM Memory120GB Hard DRive (Where SS3.1 is)200GB Maxtor USB Drive (for all my music)Any help would be appreciated.ThanksWeaves
Christopher
Have you tried hitting refresh within the program? I think it's in one of the menus (like file, edit, etc)
Weaves
Chris,Here are my approximate performance times:1) Load CD<35 seconds2) Begin Import <10 seconds3) Eject Tray<5 seconds4) Clear CD titles@ 40 seconds5) Reload CD & get info (combined in setup)@ 3 minutesIf I set up SS3.1 to not get CD info on loading, it only takes @ 5 seconds to get into CCDB.Everything seems to be fine (even importing) except when switching CD's. Then my time problems begin.I wonder if it's because I'm using the USB hard drive?ThanksWeaves
