I'd like to apologize for posting this thread in the wrong forum:

http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9596

and for duplicating a post from that thread:

In the control panel --> audio and sound devices --> audio tab

I do have Sound Playback set to Playback through TotalRecorder as well as Sound Recording set to Record through TotalRecorder.

Followed these instructions from the "A Guide To Hi-md Uploading., Upload Hi-MD recordings the right way!" thread:

* Plug your HiMD recorder in via USB.

* Open SonicStage and go to the transfer window

* Open Total Recorder and press record

* Press play in SonicStage on the HiMD half of the screen

The show is playing through SS but not recording in TR.

I am using the Software setting in TR but might I have a setting wrong somewhere else?

ozpeter (and others) has been extremely kind in humoring my noob questions but I thought I'd better post this in the right forum. If a Mod would like to move or delete the other thread I completely understand. I'm just trying to get a true digital transfer of a recording. I had been using the "Sound board" > "stereo mix" setting at 44.1/16 but ozpeter clued me into the fact that I want to be using the "Software" setting. I'm just confused because it seems I have everything configured right but still can only get a recording using SS/USB > TR with the "Sound board" setting. The Software setting is recording silence for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Once again, sorry for the cross post...I am becoming more familar with the forums.

Are you getting playback through your speakers/headphone when you play back through SS?

Look at your volume control (little speaker icon on bottom right) and make sure Wave and Volume Control are not way down or muted.

yep, getting playback through my speakers when playing in SS. the only thing muted if my line in. hmm
