Md-recorder In Combination With Md-player?

Hi,

I used to have a MZ-N1, but after two years, it's broken. When I want to play an MD, it 'hangs' and can't read the MD.

So I decides to buy the new MZ-RH10. But I'm afraid that after two years, I would have the same problems or perhaps something bad might happen.

So I was thinking of combining a MD-recorder with a MD-player. The MD-player I use it to take it with me. I would like to use the recorder to only transfer songs, so I could leave it at home, safely.

What do you think of that? Is it a good idea to combine those 2 units?

Many of us have at least two portable units; one being a portable recorder and the other being a portable player. A combination of both devices will definitely help prolong the optical block of the RH10. In fact, I am planning to acquire either the EH1 or EH930 to complement my current Hi-MD devices - the RH10 and NH1.

There are no MP3 compatible players out there

Michael is right about that situation, but if you have old MDs to play back and are used to transferring things with SonicStage, it's not a major thing.

Get a NH600 if you can find one and a NH600D (which doesn't have line-in recording) if you can't find the NH600. You can pick up the NH600D for under $90 on Ebay, new in the box, if you're a little patient.

I have a NHF800 that I use for live recording, and a NH600D that I use for everything else (including uploading the live recordings I make). Like you, I decided it's silly to wear out the expensive recorder when all you need is a player.

Hell yes but there is a problem. There are no MP3 compatible players out there (unless it has been released when I have been away).

I am a MDLP user myself with some cheap recorders and Sharp Auvi, Type-S Sony players and would not have it any other way.

ow, that's a very bad thing. But I guess it will be released in the few months...? I'm wondering, as a MD-player, are there many differences between the different models?

For Hi-MD, there are only two or three downloaders (players for MDs or music downloaded from PC) : the DH10, which is expensive because it's also a camera, and the NH600 and NH600D. The NH600D only downloads from the PC; the NH600 downloads from the PC and also does line-in recording.

There are older players, but they don't handle Hi-MD formats.

By the way, if you do have MP3s on your computer, SonicStage will convert them to ATRAC for minidisc use. There's a slight quality loss, but unless you're starting with low-rate mp3s it's tolerable.
