CONNECT Player - Another Bug?

Hi there, i've finally got my NW-A3000, and installed Connect player. Now apart from a crash after it had imported my SS files, all seemed well until I tried to rip tracks from a cd that has a data track. Connect refused to display any music tracks for the CD. Its displayed in the file manager as a DATA CD, no tracks appear in the track view despite it connecting to CDDB and retrieveing the CD info.

Anyone else experienced this?

Hmm this is a regular CD with normal tracks? I just ripped a CD that came with a magazine, and it was fine, 192kb and it didn't take long either.

this is an interesting dilemma indeed. can you select only the songs and just rip those instead of ripping the entire cd?

Also if possible could you post your opinions on the NW-A3000 in the Equipment Reviews + Pictorials area? Pictures would be a bonus. :ol_biggrin:

If i`m able to understand that question then i can say yes.YES, it is possible to select songs which u would like to be converted (there is no need to rip the whole cd).

No tracks appear in the track view at all. The drive menu (top left box) shows the CD as just DATA CD. I've tried stopping the autorun before running connect, allowing the auto run, exiting from the CD's macromedia menu then running connect the whole works. Now I know its not the CD thats dodgy because I've ripped the same CD to Hi-MD using SS in the past, and it plays in media player fine.

Ascariss, I'll try and take some and put em on my website, and yes the player did come in the nice presentation box :)

Link u have given doesn`t work .Following mesage occurs.

"MySQL Has Reported Errors

Seems like i'm not the only one with these problems with connect software. I'm also getting the data cd with no track listings if it's got some video on the disk. I'm also unable to copy two disk that have copy protection on them even though i've got them copied on SS3.3 Don't Sony make life hard for the none computer gifted people!

Not scratched, as I've stated earlier in this thread, the CD's i'm having problems with are enhanced CD's (CD's with audio and CD-ROM content). The 2 discs I've listed can be ripped with SS, but connect can't rip em.

Have u contacted sony about this problem?

I have also faced the same problem while trying to import "The Best Of Ricky Martin" (sony music ) cd.It is also an enhanced cd.

One thing u can do now is that u can rip these enhanced cd throughSonic stage then u can import these files to connect.

I also have the same problem.

I had to use Windows Media Player (it recognised the audio tracks!)

rip to WMA format and then import the files into connect.

ho hum..

R

But if u have sonic stagever3.3 then it will be more easier to import the tracks to connect & Quality of the file will not be hampered due to transcoding(during conversion to .omg files)

Folks,

I just installed CONNECT player on Boxing Day and it upgraded to the latest version listed. I still see DATA CD when trying to rip enhanced CDs.

My way around it is to rip the CD to Hard Drive using Nero then import the files - it's obnoxious because you have to edit every song and the files come in as huge .wma files.

I am going to hold off adding any more enhanced CDs till they upgrade this appauling software!

I have been having the same problems.

Connect does not always recognise my CD's as containing music and just labels them as Data and I cannot get access to any of the files on the CD.

This happens with normal CD's and also CD's with enhanced features (videous etc.)

I have had this with 2 enhanced CD's and about 3 or 4 normal CDs. It also seems rather tempremental, as if I keep reloading the CD, eventually it might recoginse it.

So far thats about my only gripe - otherwise everything seems ok
