Sonicstage 3.1 Compilation/various Artist Problem

Please help, this is driving me insane ..................

I am using SonicStage 3.1 to import and download albums and songs onto my Sony HDD NW-HD65 Network Walkman. Everything is working fine apart on one thing :

How do you download compilations and albums that have tracks by various artists?

I am currently attempting to download "The Rocky Story" which contains tracks by artists such as James Brown and Survicor amongst others.

When I copy this into 'My Library' it copies as "The Rocky Story" under "Various Artists". However, when I transfer this (as ATRAC) to my walkman it separates the album into the various artists so that I get James Brown, Survivor etc on my walkman rather than "The Rocky Story" as one album.

How do I keep the tracks together?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I thank you all in advance.

welcome to MDCF StegStu,

have all the tracks (in SS) got 'the rocky story' as album name (right click a track and select 'properties')? with correct track numbers? has the walkman the possibility (main playback mode with Hi-MD) to play by album? ...

see if any of these little things make a difference...

good luck, Volta

well, as I don't have a HD-walkman, my knowledge is quite limited... but wouldn't this mean that when selecting play by album->'the rocky story' you would hear the album as it should be...

furthermore, I believe you can (at least on Hi-MD's) move tracks around an regroup them (but this is manual labour!)

I think I remember this fault of SS (not being able to transfer groups as groups) being called one of the most irritating features! (I didn't realize it also happened with compilation albums)

have you tried importing the CD with Simple Burner? (or doesn't SB work for HDs?)

greetings, Volta

It classes "James Brown" as an album (with one track "Living in America") even though it is only one track out of the 9 contained in the "Rocky Story". It then classes Survivor as an album with two tracks. It then repeats this for the remaining artists on the album.

What is Simple Burner? Is this a piece of software that I can download?

thanks

strange, never noticed that myself, but then again, I don't really remember if I've ever transferred a compilation album before (I should check this)

yep, as I said, I don't really know whether this also works for HD-walkmans, but it's actually the application I mostly use when transferring CD's to Hi-MD (it doesn't put the CD in a music library, but transferres directly, which I prefer)...just have a look in the downloads section here on MDCF (icon on the top-right of each page) you can download it from there...
