Track Mark Errors W/sonicstage

Hello,

my equipment: MZ RH910 / hi-md disc in hi-md SP mode / Fujitsu Scaleo 2.8 P4 win xp pro sp2, sonicstage 3.1

my problem: recorded a band using mics / batt. box via line in with auto track mark on, edited on the disc to remove some marks and add others. Tracks play fine on the disc. Uploaded into sonicstage however, and any track that was combined from two stops where the track mark used to be, the timer increments but there is no sound output. If I move the slider along slightly the sound recovers.

If I use sonicstage to convert to WAV it only converts upto where the mark was removed from, and the length of the track is reduced accordingly.

If I use Marc's renderer to convert to WAV it converts the whole file but there is a skip where the trackmark used to be.

As I had upload problems before I noticed this problem anyway, I've lost the 'original' file of 1 song off the disc and only have the 'blip' version now, which only plays all through using Marc's rendered WAV file with the blip, but for the others that still play OK on the disc do I have any option other than to do an analogue recording from the portable or try to get my soundcard to give a digital output and just playback using sonicstage?

I rang Sony UK who seemed genuinely interested in my problem but I'm doubtful of a 'fix'...

thanks

Richard

I have noted this exact problem with my RH 10. (see "Upload Error, RH 10") I have reported it to Sony and they are supposed to be working on it. I have heard from a person with an MZ NH1 who had the same problem. Since you have a 910, it must be a problem in Sonic Stage. Please report this to Sony so that they will realize it's not an isolated problem.

darn fluff, that sure sounds like a rotten bug! There is a way to ignore it though...

But first to resque the rest of the tracks:

for the others that still play OK on the disc do I have any option other than to do an analogue recording from the portable or try to get my soundcard to give a digital output and just playback using sonicstage?

yep, if they play through USB->SS, you can rescue them using the Total Recorder digital way or by rerecording them analogly (see"dex's OPTIONS FOR PARANOID USERS" in this thread)

To prevent any such things happening in the future, I would gladly point you towards Dex's one and only sure way to not mess up trackmarks or create glitches and all such things... (right here)

The Bottom line is, just upload as they are, no editing... combine in SS, convert to wav, add trackmarks in the CD-burning application (use Simple Burner to get them back on MD)...

hope this helps and that Sony fixes this,

Volta
