Populating ATRAC player starting from WAVs

Question

I've had a HanGo PJB hard disc portable for five or six years now, but I fear its time on this planet will soon be at an end (the drive is full and the left channel is getting dodgy). I think there may be an Atrac machine in my future. Over the years, I've been through the same select/rip/convert/transfer cycle three times with steadily improving MP3 encoders. So last time around I kept the WAV files and burned them to DVD-R, figuring that when the next encoder came along I'd do a big batch job instead of ripping selected tracks off 500 CDs again. I now have about 50GB of WAV files, which I'm somewhat interested in converting to Atrac and putting on a Sony portable.

What I'd like to know is: can the Sony software do this, or will the workflow/DRM/whatever get in the way? Can I start with a bunch of WAV files on DVDs and end up with Atrac on the portables? Will I have the option of keeping Atrac copies on the PC to rotate through a flash player? Will I have the option of deleting Atrac copies off the PC to save space if I get a hard disc based portable?

I tried looking at PDF manuals but, well, it didn't help. Hopefully somebody who's familiar with the machines and software can clear it up for me.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Yes. The Sonicstage software will more than likely die on you a few times in the process, but you can always just make a batch copy prior to transfer...

That and VAIO Music Move will work too...seems more stable.

does sonicstage 3.3 do this? because i'm having a hard time batch converting mp3's to atrac
