baxtheskunk
I seem to remember this. If so, what format did you have once you uploaded?
Syrius
No MD unit was able to upload until Hi-MD came to be. Maybe download with NetMD, or USB to Toslink conversion with those Xitel converters that Sony bundled with its units. (I have to admit, the AN-1 leaves my computers "hi-quality" sound card in the dust.)
A440
The very first MD's (and some MD decks) had optical out, which would allow digital recording from MDs, but in realtime (as with the Xitel). Not uploading, but Sony couldn't even tolerate that much potential high-quality reproduction.
baxtheskunk
Thanks A440, that's what I was thinking of. Do you remember any model numbers for the portables? Is it a standard 44.1 kHz output? Edited June 22, 2005 by baxtheskunk
A440
Only the very first portable: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-1.htmlDon't know about the sampling rate, never had one.
KJ_Palmer
Also the Sony MZ-2P original playback-only unit had digital output, of which I'm a recent proud owner. Sampling rate is indeed the standard 44.1kHz for CD/MD equipment...
