Redian
HiI am new to this so bear with me.Loaded Connect Player the other day and started to rip my CD collection to it, and then on to my A3000. Last night I had just finished ripping a CD and was transferring this to the device when the Connect Player froze. I eventually had to shut computer down. On restart it was very very slow and more worrying there was no longer any tracks on Connect Player, and non listed against the A3000 despite the 'space available bar' showing 17gb instead of 18gb.The library on the A3000 shows that all tracks have been transferred but all edits that I had made to the properties of the tracks were no longer there. I then uninstalled Connect Player and the reinstalled with the CD but this did not change anything, the library is still empty. I have found the library of tracks on the c: drive but the Connect Player will not let me import them. Properties show location of each track as Connect Player. Also, the version has reverted to 1.0.00.11018. The auto update is not working. Any ideas? Guest Stuge
Try TO FOLLOW THE STEPS GIVEN IN THIS TOPIC.You can install Connect, manually!
C_player
Redian,I posted this elsewhere, but you'll find that things go much, much smoother with the "artistlink background service" feature turned off. It takes up CPU cycles and a lot of memory, and its on all the time. Disabling it in the internet preferences, then exiting and restarting the player, will go a long way toward helping you be more stable.Do you have at least 512MB of RAM and a reasonably fast (2ghz) CPU? If not, running XP and the player at the same time with a large-ish (3000+ tracks) library will be a slow experience for you.

There are no tracks in the library and I can't even rip a CD. Sony will not be able to resolve this through there updating system as the Connect Player won't respond to any command. Guest Stuge
I think u should leave connect right now & use Sonic stage v3.3 instead(as sonic stage is also compatible with "a-series" but few settings will be disabled)

Can you see the library, connect, playlist, and device icons in the upper left hand corner? Can you click on any of them and have the views change? Do the pull down menus work?It is very unusual for software to just stop working, unless something is really wrong with the system. It might be that things are moving very slowly, and because it takes so long you are seeing it as non responsive.I want to help out here, but I need to know the information above to help you. willykyu
I also have a strange problme with Connect Library. I imported my collection from SS 3.3. I took forever, but it was there. The problem was some infos wre wrong, and some album were split in pieces...(one album of the same name for one track...). So I dicided to delete all the library content, to arrange this in SS. BUT, while suppressing, there has been a crash (how surprising...). Then, once I onpened CP again, it says there's about 500 tracks, but there are a few tracks displayed, and the rest invisible... and I can't delete what's in my library anymore. I tried to re-install the progam after uninstall it, but the library infos won't go away... Does anybody know how to get rid of connect 'memory'? (when uninstalling, I also deleted the connect folders in the program files directory. But it did not change. Connect memeory must be hidden somewhere. Then I'll be able to make a clean library from the start...).PS/ Connect version is the one sold with A series on a cd, then updated.Thanx very much in advance. Example being - CD in drive d: nothing shown on this page and no possibilty of ripping it. The drop down menus all appear and all lead to the required destinations but there is no response from the 'check for update'. Another example here is on the file drop down menu 'Import files'. This shows me the source window containing tracks but when I click the 'open' but there is a sound coming from the computer base unit which indicates some activity but nothing apperas in the library. C_player
Redian,Two thoughts come to mind: did any of the installs of the player happen while you were logged into the PC as a "limited user" (basically any user other than Administrator)? If so, important parts of the player did not get installed correctly and it will not work. Second, have you tried deleting all of the items found in the "library" directory while the player is not running? In most instances I've seen that fixes the "empty view" problem. Also, it works best when the walkman is not attached to the PC while doing any of the cleaning operations in the player. Finally, Willykyu, the player is like all modern Windows applications: uninstallation will never make the data files go away. This is what you want, since each time you get an upgrade or patch, parts of the player get uninstalled. If you really want to start fresh, you have to delete the "library" directory and all of the registry entries. It's not for the faint of heart. willykyu
Thanx....I formated... and installed a new fresh SS3.3 and CONNECT player. CONNECT works a "little" better. But still a pain. When importing, it puts tracks of the same album in several different "same" album... I dicided not to use connect 'till they make a solid version (obviously, this is a beta version...). Thanx for your answer.

Thanx for your answer.←Apologies if I'm stating the obvious - but if it creates several versions of the 'same' album, is it not just the case that the data tags are slightly different on some of the tracks? For example I had the Soundtrack to 'Road to Perdition', but noticed that 1 track on the album was labelled 'Road to Perdition', 1 'Road To Perdition and 1 'Road to Perdition OSD'. This made three separate albums - but was quick to fix...

I checked that before importing, and even tried to rip the cd again from SS, put the same artist name, same album name (copy/paste) etc. But nothing changed...Then this MEGA bug of invisible tracks, impossible to delete... so no other solution than format. I also had lots of problems with Sonicstage, which did not want to show me the "transfer" window with applocale... I'm just waiting for an solid update now... jshaw300
Yeah, fair enough. I guess the question is will they bring out lots of little updates or risk waiting longer for one big patch. Surely sooner or later it's going to become common knowledge this software just doesn't work as it should...

I think they are still busy with there marketing of new "A-Series".Atleast they should give respect to the customers who have already bought their new products,But i think they are not. THERE SHOULD BE AN UPDATE ATLEAST THEY RELEASE THEIR NEW "A-SERIES" ALL OVER THE WORLD.Otherwise they will be DISCONNECTED BEFORE THEY GET CONNECTED TO THE PEOPLE WITH THEIR NEW SOFTWARE "CONNECT" Edited November 22, 2005 by Stuge
