Heero Maxwell
I'm about to buy one RH910 but I wanna know, how can I use the md using one AA battery? It comes with a dry battery case. Is this black thing next to the md?Image
dex Otaku
Yes, and Yes. It's the same as the caddy that comes with the RH10, if I'm not mistaken. Unlike some earlier models, you don't even have to have the gumstick in the unit for the AA to work [i have tested this with the RH10]. KJ_Palmer
In fact, with Sony MDs you never had to have any internal battery in place to use the external AA pack. For example my MZ-R30 can run with only the AA pack attached. Conversely, Sharp units (which I've owned) which can take an external pack all seem to require the gumstick to be inserted though, for some reason... Qwakrz
The only sony units that needed the internal battery fitted & charged were the ones that used Li-ion batteries & had the external option.
Heero Maxwell
So it's almost perfect, when your gumstick battery don't hold the charge anymore, you can use one external AA. But how long is the life of one AA battery like one NI-MH 2100mAh?

Heero Maxwell
So it's probably less then de normal mds, like the net md (NE410) my old one.
KJ_Palmer
Yes, the Hi-MD units are less power-efficient than the older NetMD units, though the second generation of Hi-MD does improve on the first...
dex Otaku
I'd say it would be consistent with basically all models in the HiMD line.
Heero Maxwell
Does all models of the RH910 come with the external dry battery case? And about the charger, it's that thing that charge the battery inside the md or i'ts an outside baterry charger like the normal AA chargers?
KJ_Palmer
Yes, all variants of the RH910 come with an external battery case...The 'charger' is what used to be known as the ' mains adapter', ie. the black box that plugs into the wall to supply external power to your MD unit. It charges the internal battery as well, but not, I believe at the same time as using it..
Heero Maxwell
So it's just like a cellphone. Dammit I'd prefer the aa charger style because while it's on the wall, you can use the md but like this, when you are charging the gumstick battery you can't use the md.Last question, about the earphones, are they good? Do they have a good low frequency sound? I mean, like the iPod ones?
KJ_Palmer
I think the RH10/RH910 charges the battery when attached to a PC via a USB cable, though I'm not sure how efficient (or true) this is...I haven't heard much good said of the iPod phones, especially with regards to bass. The general consensus seems to be - ditch the stock phones and buy/use your own pair... I've done so with my RH10 (replaced them with Sennheiser MX550's - which admittedly aren't very bassy at all...).Some people have said that the RH10 headphones are relatively good, though, and I expect the RH910 headphones would be similar or the same... But, in the end, it's probably best to replace them, if you can...
arasikan
yeah, the headphones that come with the 910 are ultra lame... in my opinion. it seems like a sports-ish model... no foam covers, the cord itself is kind of a 'springy'/rubbery material... and the length of one earbud is longer than the other! i went to the sony store to inquire about this, and apparently it is the design... you're supposed to put one ear on (the shorter one), and then swing the longer earphone cord around to the other ear behind your head!!i'll just stick with my bang&olufsen A8's... Heero Maxwell
But this system (tu swing over your neck) is better because only one cord will be pulled down in some cases and not both of them. So i'd better look out for a new phone too when i get my rh910. And about this system, it's very good too because you can use only on one ear and the other phone is close to your neck not inside your clothes or down to your bally. But i hope that the sound of the eq is good enouth to overcome the phone quallity and give me a good with with the stock phones. What kind of ajustments are there on the eq? Low, Mid and High or is like the net mds, Bass and Treble only? Edited July 5, 2005 by Heero Maxwell
Heero Maxwell
Nobody answer the last post so i'm gonna put a new question into it also.1 - What kind of ajustments are there on the eq? Low, Mid and High or is like the net mds, Bass and Treble only?2 - Does all RH910 come with the charging stand or just in some places? I just got my 910 yesterday so I am still exploring it too but I have discovered that there are 2 Custom settings available for their 6 Band EQ with 7 levels on each band: -10, -6, -3, 0, +3, +6, +10.2. My first MD unit was the Net-MD 810 which has a charging cradle but the 910 has only an AC adapter. Here is MY question: I was hoping that I could use the 910 connected to my computer as an external 1Gb storage but it appears that I can't have the AC adapter plugged in at the same time as the USB connection since the manual tells me to close off the USB port cover when the charger is connected. Is this correct?

Is this correct?this is correct, but not problematic at all, as the RH910 is powered through the USB cable when connected...so no probs, just go ahead and use it a storage device
Heero Maxwell
Now I know everything, I got the manual from the internet. I didn't think about this on the past days since mine just arrive on august 1st. Now I know about the eq, how it work, it's a lot better because it's not just bass and treble like it was on my past md. Now we have 100hz, 250hz, 630hz, 1,6khz, 4khz and 10khz, this is just amazing. We have the contrast too that is very good also. I can't wait until I put my hands on it.
ROMBUSTERS
the EQ makes everything sound better IMO. The standard Heavy EQ setting is what I use most often however I do have a custom system or two I use as well
Heero Maxwell
The EQ is very good because you can have one for studio music and one for live music.
