MichaelBeardy
Hi all, I just wanted to get a poll of experiences from folks who had upgraded the NH-10WM battery in their MZ-NH900 Hi-MDs to the NH-14WM.What I'd like to know is...Does it take much longer to charge the NH-14WM in the MD unit than the NH-10WM - if so, how long?Does the MD get any warmer whilst it's charging the NH-14WM. When the standard battery is nearly full I notice it gets a little warm - does the bigger capacity cell make a difference here in your experience? I don't want to cook my Hi-MD... How much extra playback time do you get using the NH-14WM - on average?I like the idea of using the higher capacity cell, but I'm a little bit wary of overloading or overheating the charging circuitry of the NH900.I'd welcome the experiences of those who've made the upgrade...Thanks,Michael
Tiesto
I purchased the charger + two 1400 GP prismatic (gumstick) batteries combo a way before I got my NH900, mainly because the reviews I read about the battery packed along with the device. So I've never tried it. About the performance of the 1400 GP battery which has the same charge as the Sony NH-14WM, I did a mini test to check the battery life a days ago and I must admit that I am kind of disappointed not because the battery itself but with the NH900, this was the test:Almost all my music is converted at 132k, in this bit rate the NH900 + 1400GP gumstick + AA 2100Amh + 1giga disc + volume level 15 + 16ohm earphones combo reached ~28 hours of continuous playback. The manual says ~30 hours for the Sony NH-10WM which is actual 900Amh + AA alkaline so my results arent what I would want, in fact the battery life diminishes when the playback isnt continuous, so Im talking about ~20 hours (1400 gumstick+2100 AA ) with the right conditions (volume level, headphones impedance, bit rate, disc type, number of tracks, moisture, temperature of air, etc. ).With regard to the prismatic performance I've never tested it alone, but I would expect ~14 hours of playback at most.Summarizing, I dont know whether the bad performance is a hardware issue (I hope it isnt) or it is a battery issue (memory effect or something like that) .p.s. I havent used the battery of the Sharp in the Nh900, Im going to do it and see what happen.[attachmentid=424] Edited July 13, 2005 by Tiesto
