Query about NW-HD1's volume settings

I've had a look around and can't seem to find info about this query anywhere so here goes.

Is there a setting on the NW-HD1 which allows me to have all songs playing at the same volume level.I sometimes get a bloody shock when I'm listening in shuffle mode and all of a sudden a song comes on that's pretty loud and has me jumping out of my skin.

No ,There is no way u can set the same volume level for all songs.

It basically happens b`coz u might have different songs in different bit rates...

I know for Television sony has Intelligent volume

you could use some program to normalize the MP3 files before transfering them. That way they'd be of the same volume level before you transfer and then the volume need not change on your HD1.

Audacity will normalise files as well. In fact so will Sonicstage 3.3, but only when writing to a CD-R. I do that regularly, and it seems to work quite well...
