This is probably a rant but anyways....

My SS experince goes a little something like this.

I buy an MD. It comes with SS 1.3, it doesn't work, crashes constantly. I look on the internet for a newer version of SS. I find one. I download and it works fine.

I notice that SS 2 has been released. I download. SS no longer lets me transfer songs ot my MD, it crashes.

A newer version of SS 2 comes out. I download it, it works.

I had to reformat my computer. I download SS again. It doesn't work, crashes constantly.

I find a newer version. It works.

I buy a new computer, download SS 3.1. It crashes everytime I try to play a file.

Anyone notice a pattern here?

Anyways I hate sonic stage, it is a horrible program. I am not i the market for a new portable audio device as my MD player has been rendered useless thanks to sonys inept programming skills.

PS don't reply asking for details on my problem so you can fix it, because frankly I don't care it will just end up causing me more trouble in the future, I am done with SS.

Perhaps my expectations of what SonicStage would do were less demanding than yours. I nevewr expected it to do anything more than be the front-end for transfers between my computer and the MD. It wasn't until I got my Hi-MD that I started to use it to upload. With NetMD, I would use SimpleBurner when needed. So my use of SS was limited.

I don't bother with Connect...I'm not paying a dollar a track to anybody...so, with fewer demands on it, I haven't found any problems with SS at all.

I don't have a fancy machine...no multi gigahertz speedster...but SS has always worked when I needed it.

It certainly isn't the WORST Sony software...anybody ever sufferd through Picture Package (with their Sony digital camera)?

whilst i'm sorry that sonicstage has been terrible for you a little more research might have put your woes to bed. i had problems with ompenMG, like many others, so i joined up at this community, read all i could then had a happy time, despite occasional uninstall/reinstalls. whilst sony's support for below average software is reprehensible the community support always was/is first rate. check out the archives of people for whom a problem has been solved by asking around here.

if you change your mind eggit we'll still be here.

Not sure what you mean about my expectations, all I expected was the program to function without crashing.

And I have no desire to try and "fix" SS as it will simply break again as it has done in the past. One thing I did learn about reading these forums, not that ss problems are easy to fix as you mentioned, but that they are incredibly common.

I wouldn't mind it so much if it was a unicode program that could handle multiple languages. iTunes can handle the east asian languages, why cannot Sony (in Japan, mind you) not produce a SS version that can natively have multi-language support?

Even their nice mp3 players...including the Pocket Vaio cannot handle anything other than English and Japanese (and the Chinese characters that match the Japanese Kanji). No Hangul support.

I am returning my Pocket Vaio for this very reason. WONDERFUL machine, nice build quality, but no true east language support ended my ownership. Bah Sony.
