Even if it reads discs just fine, it might be a sign the recording head (which is separate from the reading head) is going kaput. Try to record real time through the analog or digital inputs. If you still can't hear anything, then it's the recorder. If it works, then maybe the issue is with the original files. (VBR MP3, for example)

I tried the other ports. So I guess it's broken. Man that sucks...

Okay question. I have an old one that broke a few years ago and the Reading head broke now can I take that out an stick it in the newer one.
