Imperial_Eagle
Hi,I have gone from SonicStage V2.0 to 3.1 with the problem that it does not recognise my Hi-MD MZ-NH1.So I was glad to see 3.2 available, so I downloaded and installed it "successfully".Unfortunately I now get message "To run Sonicstage, a newer version of OpenMG Secure Module is needed. Please uninstall and install it again". The version of OpenMG is 3.4.01So I install again, also going through the Add/Remove programs and remove SonicStage & OpenMG, Registry etc. Then try again with the install of 3.2 and for that matter 3.1, but OpenMG does not get installed even though the install goes through okay. Only way to get anything up is to install 2.0 OpenMG from CD.Then of course I'm back to square 1, with 3.1 (but still not recognizing my MD)Any help greatly appreciated. A440
Do this complete uninstall:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071Look in Add/Remove programs for ffdshow, a codec pack. If you have it, uninstall it. Run this MDAC repair program:http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/details.php?file=8Install SS 3.2 again and see if it recognizes the MD. If it doesn't, run the web installer again and when it tells you that you already have the latest version installed, tell it you want to reinstall anyway. Ishiyoshi
For your information, the latest OpenMG Secure Module is 4.2.00.06070Try the reinstall procedure once again; and this time ensure that you delete OpenMG’s registry entry --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\OpenMG after you remove your copy of OpenMG Secure Module. If installation problems still persist, please report back and I will try and extract OpenMG Secure Module 4.2.00.06070 for you.Good luck. Imperial_Eagle
Ishiyoshi,No good I am afraid.Did exactly as you said. A fully clean uninstall, Registry, Add/Remove programs, deleted directories etc.3.2 install completes successfully, I reboot and click on the SonicStage icon -Message comes up "Cannot find the OpenMG Secure Module , exiting SonicStage".Looked in add/remove and definitely did not install.OpenMg 3.4.01 does install okay from 2.0 CD, which I guess is okay for 3.1 but not now for 3.2.If there is a separate install for OpenMG Secure Module then that may do it.Thanks. A440I have not got FFdshowThe HI-MD is recognised through Explorer and I can transfer stuff to and from. Do When I do get 3.2 to work. do I still need to repair MDAC ? It looks a little dangerous. A440
The MD is recognized as a USB drive through Explorer, so you know the USB connection is working. Unfortunately, that's not enough for SonicStage to deal with the music on the MD. If you get 3.2 working with the Open MG module, and it recognizes your MD unit--it will read the names/numbers of tracks recorded on the disc--then leave it alone. If you get the module and SonicStage installed and it still doesn't recognize the MD, the MDAC repair often solves that problem. Another question: are you installing SonicStage into its default directory, not a custom location? I think SonicStage is so poorly written that it can only find its components in the default directories.
tommypeters
The installation program is at least very poorly written. In the "Dark Ages" of Windows computers it was common here in Sweden to get to folder C:\Program automatically opened when you booted up your computer. We use C:\Program here as default instead of "C:\Program Files", however some years back badly written installation programs forgot the "" around the path. And they wanted to be installed in Program Files.Instead of the program "C:\Program Files\xyzdriver.exe" being executed at startup, C:\Program was executed - which resulted in that folder being opened at startup. This hasn't happened for years now. Except for when I'm installing SonicStage. It's easy to fix, but anyway...I have tried to email Sony Sweden, but they have secret email addresses for support and all other functions. Their web site only gives info@sony.se, but email to that address bounced.
Imperial_Eagle
A440, thanks. When I get 3.2 working I will see what happens and then if necc use MDAC repair then.To answer your question I am using the default (ie. what is prompted at the install)libraries.
