Question

Just bought a sony nwe 407, it was meant to be a sony nwe 507 with a radio, but made a mistake when ordering. Had problem with the software version 3, only when I downloaded version 3.3, it worked. Does anybody know why, please? Also can I use a USB travel adaptor when cannot access a computer. Sony does not recommend it, wonder whether I will damage the walkman if I do use one. Just bought one from e-bay from a seller in Hong kong, a bit concerned now. Can you use your computer whilst charging the battery? Really I bought the NWA 680, and was pput off by the comments of the software and was glad when it was out of order. I have a windows 98 SE, it is also possible, the new modesl are not compatible, does anybody know? Thanks

Its hard to tell why sonic stage ver 3 didn`t worked .There might be some compatibility issue with the previous one..

Also can I use a USB travel adaptor when cannot access a computer?

Yes,They made the travel adapter for that purpose only

Sony does not recommend it, wonder whether I will damage the walkman if I do use one.
From where did you get this information. Can you tell us.If that was the case then why would sony have made that adapter..

Can you use your computer whilst charging the battery?

Yes,No problems while charging and using computer at the same time

I have a windows 98 SE, it is also possible

No "connect" is not compatible with your windows .You will need to upgrade your computer to windows xp(sp 2).I might be hard to detect new models under windows 98 Se because there are no drivers for it.

The travel adaptor, I am afraid is not a sony. Do not know what make it is? In your opinion, do you think I should leave the one I just bought alone since it is not a Sony? Thanks for youor help.

@ marylee: Where are you located? If you are in the States, you can pick up the official Sony USB AC Adaptor (AC-U50A) from BestBuy (@ $19.99) or datavision.com for approx. USD$18.

I am in the UK, bought one from e-bay from a seller in Hong Kong for my oldie husband. I do not think, he will know how to charge it as the USB's protection on the MP£ player looks quite fragile and will take long before it is damaged. I thought an adapter will be easier for him to use when he travels. I guess, I will follow people's advice and not use in case it damages the walkman, it does say it is generic, do not know what that means. I am an oldie myself and have to learn how to work these new cadgets. Please do you know how can I delete some tracks on the player. Trying to learn by mistake I have double copied some tracks. The e-manual is such pain, give me a hard copy anytime. Thanks.

Tracks can be removed using sonic stage, just select the tracks which you wishg to remove and click the <-- backwards arrow from in between the transfer window and music library window.

Personally i would not worry too much about using the travel adapter, jus tmake sure the voltage is not too high. I charge my PSP with my Vaio pocket charger and vice versa all the time. No damage has came as a result. Generic basically means universal. Obviously it is not as risk free as using an official adapter like the rest of the forum is telling, so use at your own risk.
