Well, you can't get MP3s onto your NH1 for the simple reason that the NH1 doesn't support them. (If that's what you're alluding to.)

You can convert them to ATRAC and transfer them to your NH1 in LP4/LP2/Hi-LP/Hi-SP/any of the other bitrates supported. If you're not even getting the option to convert to ATRAC, you might want to go into tools-> options, then to the 'Transfer' section and alter 'Transfer Settings' for the Hi-MD device.

Failing that, I'm out.. it should be able to do it. A complete uninstall/reinstall perhaps? wacko.gif

Sometimes Sonic Stage 3.x will not convert "old" mp3 files. Although these mp3s will usually play - it seems certain older codecs (used whilst "ripping" to mp3s) have compatability issues with Sonic Stage.

The solution (using a third party application like MusicMatch) is to convert the effected mp3 back into a WAV and re-encode back to mp3.

Just to clarify - although the 2nd generation of HiMD players are touted as mp3 players - although the mp3 file is not recoded (thus further quality is not lost) - the downloaded to mini disc mp3s are ammassed into one large file on the disc. This ensures that the mp3 cannot be uploaded with another persons Sonic Stage - thus copy protection is still maintained. I haven't actually tested the theory though - Sonic Stage is such a quirky bit of software I use it as little as possible!!!

Of course you could just put your mp3s on a CD and give them to someone - so it does seem a bit over the top to protect them.

i`ve since yesterday the exact same problem with my nh900.

he will do mp3 that are already encoded but "fresh" mp3 he just wouldn`t transfer with the only error that he gives "cannot transfer track/tracks ".

And i already converted it to wav and get an another version from the web. it just wouldn`t work.

btw i use ss 2.3
