WannaBeJazzer
Man, what an estetic let down.Just received my rh910 - what the hell is this WHITE band of plastic wrapped around 3 edges??? Talk about putting a PIG in a perfectly sexy thong...I'm looking closely at the pictures of the units now... I took that whitish band to be a darker silver with some reflection on it.. like the rh10 apparantly has.I hate to be this shallow - but I'm crushed. I suppose if the display isn't satisfactory I'll have to turn it in for the rh10.Sorry to gripeWBJ
KJ_Palmer
The RH910 is not as pretty as the RH10, for sure, but I'm used to mine now and aesthetics aside the two seem to be functionally exactly the same - so I'm happy enough to just let the 910 do the 'donkey' work. But of course, you can't please everyone... ...
WannaBeJazzer
Thanks KJ,I'm getting used to the play-school / tonka truck bumper styling.I just can't figure what these guys were thinking. That said, I was able to load SS and transfer my first batch of music painlessly. Guess I'll just have to save my money for something more sexy next time!So a big warning to all potential buyers - it's not only the organic display that's affecting the 'look', comparing the 910 to the rh10.(Admin - maybe this thread should be in the Review area?) I don't like them, and for something that's going to be shoved in a pocket most of the time, I don't want the extra power consumption that OLED brings. If you think about it, the white band on silver body brings a hint of the Ipod styling, that may be what they were going for. Chiron
I went for the 910 too because it was a good $150 cheaper the the 10 here in Canada. Heck it has all of the same features of the 10 in terms of usability. The only thing besides a sleaker look that you get is the OLED and a non-display remote...so the 910 was an easy choice.I thought it was a bit cheesie too when it came in the mail, but I have gotten used to it and like the diplay tonnes. I think Sony really needs to consult MD users as they are desiging the look and features of any MD player. We are like a free focus group that they could learn from. lamewing
Sony lost its way in regards to designing MD units about the time that they stopped using metal bodies. I loved the simple look of the R70, R900, etc. Heck, the N1 and N10 were nice to look at too! Now we get....plastic, uh. Noting makes a EXPENSIVE device look cheap and tacky moreso than a plastic body. And half a metal body doesn't cut it either!!!Joe Edited August 11, 2005 by lamewing
Christopher
I don't want the extra power consumption that OLED brings.←Whilst OLED technology is still somewhat in it's infancy, you can be rest assured that the power consumption of the RH10's OLED screen is barely more than the standard display on the RH910. Remember, he power consumption of OLED displays depends entirely on what is being displayed, and with the RH10 only displaying one color it's not really that obtrusive.
