rbonnefoi
Hi,I bought a few weeks ago a minidisc player Sony MZ-NH10. It has a microphone plug powered and I use for my recordings the Sony ECM-DS70P.I used it for several days without any problem. The recorded minidiscs were perfectly readable...But since a few days, I can't record anymore. Actually, I can record but when I try to read the minidisc, there is nothing on it.More precisely, while recording, I can see the counter increasing. If I pause the recording, the track number increases as well. When I stop it, the lcd screen says "Data Save" (i.e. it transfers the data from the buffer to the minidisc) and "TOC Edit".Then when I try to read the content, it takes a long time (about 5 seconds) to begins. And I can't hear any song in the headphones. After 5 seconds, the reading pauses and restart a few seconds after. If I remove the minidisc and reinsert it in the player, it then says it is a blank disc.I can't understand what happened. I think the problem comes from the reading more than the recording step. Because I had a minidisc I had already read in the player without any problem which became blank after the problem appeared.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use the recorder for my trip in China and I'd like to use it before I leave.Thanks.Remi.
Skradgee
Hi rbonnefoi. Welcome to the forums. A friend of mine has the same problem with his minidisc recorder (it's a MZ-R37). He can playback discs just fine, but when he tries to record, the process seems to go alright (it records, says 'data save', etc) but then he ends up with a blank disc. Additionally, each time he tries to add something onto a disc that already has something recorded on it, it says 'blank disc'! So, you may want to try getting a MD head cleaner for your unit. Check out www.minidiscaccess.com . I've had good experiences with them to get things quick and cheap. If that doesn't solve your problems then you should get a new recorder and maybe use the one you have now as a player only. There's my 2¢. Hope it helps. Cheers. A440
Try the head cleaner but if that doesn't work, since it's only a few weeks old, your best choice would be to exchange it or get it repaired by Sony.
