the_word_yes
hi. i was wondering if you guys could suggest a minidisc for recording shows. i'm trying to keep it under $300.00, if possible. however, if there is a huge quality difference, i would probably go higher. i have csb mics. i'll probably be doing mostly audience recording, but there is one venue where i might be able to plug into the soundboard. what additional equipment might i need for that?i've taped shows before, but it has been quite a while. previously i've used a sony pro walkmen (cassette)thanks for your help! -chris
Christopher
Welcome to the forums, friend.I think the best option at the moment in your price range would be the Sony MZ-RH10 Minidisc recorder. This is a Hi-MD unit, and you can learn more about Hi-MD here.Where do you live? Perhaps I can recommend an e-tailer for you to look at. the_word_yes
i will read up on the rh10. there's a show in mid-september that i really want to tape (the swedish band dungen) so thanks for your quick reply. i want to order one in the next couple of weeks and learn how to use it properly before the show.i'm in the u.s., new jersey to be specific. yeah, i could definitely use a recommendation as to where to get one. thanks!-chris
Christopher
This would be a good place to purchase it, and with their locale being in NY, you'd get it pretty damn quick.http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=sonmzrh10
A440
You might also try J&R in downtown New York City. Depending on etronic's shipping costs, it might be cheaper. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4029517Also, they have the RH910, same as RH10 minus light-up display on unit. I prefer leaving the MD in my pocket and using a remote (RM-MC40ELK, $75 on ebay) to control it. RH910 is only $175 on current sale. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4029518Last time I was actually at J&R, they still had the NHF800, which is still my favorite because it takes a regular AA battery that will record for 7 hours, instead of a rechargeable gumstick (plus add-on outboard AA battery if you want) like the RH models. mrsoul
That makes good sense to me... go for the RH910 and the 40ELK remote. You will have something you can read in the daylight and in the dark. It was what I was going to do initialy and then I saw that RH10 display... and I forgot my good sense I have bought 3 MD items from Etronics. Very good prices and very good customer service.
