ok i have the auto model MDX-C800REC

it plays my car radio nicely, but i cant get my MD's to play.

instructions dont say anything about it of course.

So i call Sony's 1-800 number, get a tech helper, ask her Why it wont work, and she says maybe its a shotty disk, i dont have others to test out anyway.

ok fine

i now got myself a new walkman HI-MD player MZ-NH6000

slap some songs on it from my comp, toss the new disk into my car MD player. STILL DONT WORK

ok fine, call sony up again, they spend a good 15 minutes asking each other about it, they say this car model can in fact play HI-MD's

ok, but why wont my walkmans's disks play in there then? the box for my car deck says it can record off the radio, cool but does that mean thats ALL it can do?

help me sad.gif

i need to play HI-MD's in my car, but i have a shotty deck or something, or im missing something simple, that wouldnt surprize me either.

What format are you recording in? I think the deck you have is an SP only player, so no HiMD/MDLP recorded disc will play in it. You need to record something in SP mode and try it.

*EDIT* Yup, page 22 on your manual has a setting that allows you amaximum of 80 minutes of recording time. That means it is an SP only player and you need to record something in the 600D in "fake" SP/NEtMD mode for it to be playable in your deck.

See my edit above^. Go into Sonic Stage and if you have the disc formated for Hi-MD you will need to reformat in NEtMD then change the settings (the setting button in the center) to transfer in SP mode. It will take longer to record since it is about 2X or 4X (I don't remember) transfer at that mode.

i been dieing to hear my music in the car lol.

when best buy slapped my deck in for me, they didnt plug back in the cd player, so i been out of both.

lol

I havn't seen a single Hi-MD in car deck!

http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDX-C800REC.html

from that page, my Spidey-sense says that you have in fact a car deck that supports good ol' SP format only.

This means that you need to transfer your music in SP format (also known as 'fake LP2' but don't worry about that), from SonicStage to your Hi-MD player.

Give that a try and you'll be rocking.
