tartan
does charging a rechargable battery in a real battery charger work better than charging it with the player ????? at home charging the battery with the player (nh700) is avoided (always use a real battery charger instead) because of concerns the player doesn't do the job as well as a real charger doesWho uses their player as a battery charger (charge batteries with it then remove the charged batteries for use elsewhere) ?????? Not because they do not charge them properly but because I have heard horro stories of batteries expanding and getting stuck inside the unit. My cousin has an Aiwa HX-30. He also uses an external charger. Recently he had a battery expand on him and it was a good thing it was not in the player.
KJ_Palmer
I mostly charge in the unit itself rather than an external charger to save wear and tear on battery doors, which are a notorious weak spot in MD design. I sometimes do charge AA's externally, but I haven't noticed any particular advatage in that (in terms of better battery life etc). However I would never use an MD unit as a convenient battery charger for other appliances though...I personally have had not problems (yet, touch wood) with batteries exploding or expanding in a player/recorder whilst recharging. Maybe that's more likely if they're left plugged in and 'charging' for days on end, or not properly drained (woth NiMH's), or with a faulty battery.. So I'll carry on with recharging them inside the unit.. for now.....
