Question

Hi,

I was looking for a remote for my new Sony NW-A3000, I previously had an NW-HD3 which I loved but decided to upgrade.

Anyways, as I was saying I have looked at www.sony.co.uk and the remote which is shown on the "Accessories" page under "Remote Controls" is the RM-NWS1 now looking at this this looks ok and everything, but there is no LCD screen? Anybody have this and is it any good?

But.... by chance I was looking at the Service and Support pages on the Sony site, I went to the support page for the NW-A3000 and saw the heading "Accessory Support" and under this the link RM-MC35ELK For NW-A I downloaded the manual and this remote seems to work with the player, does anybody know if it works fully and why on earth if it does why is it not advertised under the "Accessories" page of the player?

The reason why I ask this question about the RM-MC35ELK is beacause every site I go on it only talks about the NW-HD1,3 and 5 being the players for it, the only site mentioning the NW-A3000 is the actual accessory manual which I downloaded from the link above. I also remember when looking for a remote for my HD3 this was the one I saw and was recommended. So really I'm just asking if anybody really knows if it is fully compatible and if it is worth getting, or should I stick to the RM-NWS1 as advertised?

Thanks in advance for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

The recommended LCD remote alhough nice, doesn't really suit the design of the player.

I doubt all the options on the MC35 will work with the A3000 or the A1000 for that matter, and vice versa. I was originally planning on using a remote with my player since I wanted to keep it in my bag. But after looking at the A1000 and holding it in my hand, it would have been a shame to keep it hidden from view.

I've become used to using it without a remote after having all my previous audio players, discman and minidisc) all with remotes.

My older MC33 remote works with the player, but doesn't display track info very well.

The title of the song isn't displayed sadly, and only the elapsed time is shown.

volume works, as does skipping tracks back and forth. I can change the audio options via the remote, meaning the sound like custom 1 and 2, jazz and etc. The folder buttons can be used as well to skip forwards and backwards. Stop works as well and will stop the current track playing.

One thing that is odd is that the remote will not always display anything even though the player is playing a song, and volume and volume can be adjusted without the remote lighting up or the player. Kind of good for saving battery power I guess.

The LCD also doesn't light up sadly on mine, like it did with the MD. So I am disappointed with my old remoate and the unit but perhaps the 35 will have more functions and displays.
