my first issue is that the play / pause button on the remote is not working. it has been getting harder and harder to use the play / pause / select function, and now no matter how hard i press it, it usually doesnt work. and sometimes, when i press previous, it gets stuck and i have to pop it out. i have been unable to locate the remote for purchase elsewhere. at one time i was able to locate a more expensive remote by sony that was for (i believe ) the nh 1 (or whatever the name was. the one above mine in the 2004 series of mindisc players). would this be compatible? if i were to purchase a remote for one of the new hi md discs, would it work?

i am assuming that sony will not replace it for me, but it has not been a year since i had the minidisc, so i dont know if that makes a difference.

also, i have been using the play and stop on the minidisc and have discovered something unusual. i have a suspicion it is supposed to do this. the top half of the button is a pause "||", and the bottom half is a stop squqre. however, underneath it says "cancel / chng". it will not stop when i press stop. it stops the track and then starts the next track. i have to hit it several times before it stops. however, if i press pause, then stop, it stops. is it defective, or is it supposed to be like this? i never noticed before because i always used the remote.

Maybe you spilled some liquid on it?. If I were you , I would go for the "rm-mc40elk" 3 line display remote. It's totally compatible with the MZNH900 and you have the 3 line display!. Cut and paste the model number on ebay and you will find some sellers. They cost about 70usd or less shipping included.

Good luck

no, i'm very careful what happens to it. there's something wrong with the button underneath the slider, i think.

is the one you speak of this: http://minidiscaccess.com/item.html?PRID=1512686 you said $70, but that says $100. is it more because on ebay they are used or because these people put a mark up on it?

also, do you know how the buttons work? i didnt much care for the play / pause / confirm / back / forward button on the remote (obviously cuz i knew it would die on me like it just did, from the moment i got it) but how does the volume work? i love the volume method on the one i have, but ill adapt cuz that 3 line one looks really awesome.

ohmy.gifohmy.gif IT HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL... at the beginning I thought that I had been pressed FFW mistakenly, BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN at least five time in a row. When I pressed the stop button the player skipped to the next or a random song (I dont remember well but thing is it didnt stop) I was pretty scared, however since then the player works flawless. So this might be a bug confirmation, pretty weird if you ask me dry.gif Now, I have to see the player display everytime I press stop button to check if it really stopped.

well, I started out my 'carreer' here on MDCF with an inquiry into this problem... just read this thread

I actually sent my unit back to Sony and they repaired it (under warranty)... it has worked quite flawlessly ever since (had two dropouts, but that's all...no button malfunctions anymore)
