pellar
I just installed Sonicstage 3.2 (the full version downloaded from this site, not the internet version), and tried to upload files from my MZ-NHF800 recorder via the USB link, but the software doesn't recognize the MD recorder. My computer does recognize the device though (by the way, I am on a network computer with no direct internet link).Note: After the installation, I got the message "OMGJBOX.EXE has generated errors and will by closed by windows". I got the fix from the Microsoft site (via this site), dowloading and running the "Windows2000-KB887811-x86-enu.exe" file. That fixed the message problem and SonicStage opened properly.Note: At the time, I was unaware that "Wav converter" was included with Sonicstage 3.2, so I installed it separately. Could this have caused problems? Here are my specs: Operating system - Windows 2000 5.00.2195, Service Pack4Computer: Intel® Pentium; (4) 4 CPU 3.20 ghz; AT/AT Compatible; 512 MB ram.Any help? I'm not very systems literate!
Petter156
Try uninstalling all the stuff that was included with the Sonic Stage install (including SS of course) and reinstall using Sony´s own installer.'I had the same issue yesterday, the 'original' installer solved the problem. "using Sony's own installer".If that's the case, it won't work because I don't have an Internet connection. That's why I had downloaded the full version of the Sonicstage software from this website. It may be possible for me to purchase the latest version of the software CD from a Sony parts company, and that may get around the problem.I forgot to mention in my original posting that I may have inadvertently deleted the driver for my Sony recorder when I was trying to disconnect from the computer. I was using the "Add/Remove Hardware" wizard, and chose the option to "permanently uninstall the hardware and its driver".If that's the case, will a re-install of Sonic stage replace the driver I deleted? And solve this problem?

And solve this problem?←I think the MDCF package installs the driver, but then again that version didn´t work for me so I can´t be sure. You should try to contact Sony and explain your issue. I´m sure they won´t mind sending you a CD with the newest version. If I knew of a way to burn all the files the Sony installer downloads to a CD and then modiefy the installer to use those instead I would mail a CD to you myself - but I don´t know much about coding work. Maybe the MDCF package can be fixed/updated somehow?Good luck.

When I look under Tools, Options, Transfer Mode, there are no options available to me and no "Device/Media" show up.In terms of contacting Sony, they're useless. I tried about 6 months ago to get an upgrade of Sonicstage 2.0 (what shipped with my unit) to 2.3, so I could use the WAV Converter software, and all I got was form replies from both their phone and e-mail contacts. Nobody seemed willing (or able) to ship me a new CD upgrade, even though I was willing to pay!I've got a call in to a local Sony parts source for the latest CD, but haven't heard back from them yet. Thanks for your help, though! pellar
Did you have Sonicstage installed previously before installing the 3.2 MDCF?←I did have Sonicstage 2.0 installed at one point on my machine; however, I have since gotten a new machine, and the software was never installed on it.So no, Sonicstage was not installed before installing the 3.2 MDCF. Christopher
Is the unit plugged straight into the computer or through a USB hub?
pellar
Is the unit plugged straight into the computer or through a USB hub?←It's plugged into a USB hub. I did read that in the manual under Troubleshooting that I'm supposed to "Connect the dedicated USB cable directly to the USB port of the computer", but like I said, I'm not too computer literate, and all I can see at the back of the computer are 4 USB hubs, and nothing else that will fit the other end of the supplied USB cable. How do I connect straight into the computer? Christopher
A USB hub is an external device that attaches to the computer that has multiple USB ports. When they say directly to the USB port, they speak of the actual port on the back of the computer. So, is the cable plugged into the computer or a device attached to the computer? Christopher
Try installing the Personal Audio Driver in the downloads section. Also, try the MDAC repair utility.
pellar
Try installing the Personal Audio Driver in the downloads section. Also, try the MDAC repair utility.←I downloaded both and executed both of them (I wasn't sure what to do with the MDAC repair tool, but I pushed the "re-register MDAC" button).Re-booted my system, but still the same problem. No Device/media listed under "options" "transfer mode". If I select "import music", it sees the drive that the recorder is connected to, but all I see are the .hma and .ind files, but no .omg or .oma. pellar
I noticed there seemed to be different versions of SonicStage depending on where you live in the world.I live in Canada and I noticed a posting about SonicStage 3.1 for Asia and Canada. Could the problem be related to using SonicStage 3.2 on a unit for the Canadian market?
Christopher
No, that's just for regional things like the Connect store. Did you re-register JET with the MDAC utility? Can you take a screenshot of you seeing .hma and .ind files? Is this within Sonicstage?

That was in Explorer. All I see in Sonicstage is the HIMD directory.Thanks.
sebastianbf
I'm having the exact same problem, please help me guys! I've already tried a clean install and the mdac utility. (everything was fine a few hours ago)SonicStage ver 3.2Athlon xp 2000+256 ramWindows Xp SP2 Edited September 26, 2005 by sebastianbf
sebastianbf
Problem solved. (if you're reading this, thanks for your time)I will post the way I solved it (if anyone has the same problem)If you read the other posts you will see that my HIMD was not recognized by SonicStage, altough it was recognized by SimpleBurner and as a drive (in windows). When I started SS 3.2, there were no options under the Transfer tab (no create music cd, no create atrac cd and no HI-MD). So, I did clean installs (acoordingly to the Himd Faq in the forum) 3 or 4 times; nothing happened. I tried the Mdac repair utility with no luck. So, finally I tried uninstalling Zone Alarm security suite and before reinstalling it again, I installed S.S 3.2 (the version from the download section in the forum). It works. After rebooting my computer, after the SS installation, SS started to recognize my HIMD and I could see all the option under the transfer tab. So, then I reinstalled Zone Alarm. Now everything works wonderfully. Hope this explanation can be usefull to someone with the same problem. Oh, one more thing, when SS was not working well, it was making my computer run very slow and sometimes even crashing, so if yours is running slow, you should try reinstalling too.
