Ok so I have actually just recently heard about the hi-md minidiscs, and decided that it was time for a new portable player. The amount of use I can get out of the features of a hi-md player greatly outnumber any MP3 player on the market to me. I am going to give my Creative Zen Extra 40gig that I have had since it came out to my brother, and go ahead and get a mini-disc player.

I only know of Sony Mini-Disc players that play the hi-md discs and do what I want. I just cannot decide between these two models.

The MZ-RH10 and the RH910. The only difference I see between them is of course the OLED display. But I mean if the RH910 has a backlight button or something I am set, I am only 17 so spending less money on a purchase helps me out. Also do any of the two come with a dock or can I buy one seperatly? One that would charge and or connect to a PC by USB. That would be really nice...

I am also wondering after deciding which one of the two I want, where should I go to buy one? I at least want to pay lower than the sonystyle store, and at least get one hi-md disc to come with the player or get one at the same time I make my purchase of the player.

Amazon.com seems to be the only website that I trust and would by either of the mini disc players from.

Also I am in Washington State USA, and I have no idea where I would go for hi-md discs or anything else for a mini-disc player at a retail store any help?

I am completely new to Mini Disc's but I want to learn soon !

Glad I found these forums

Sorry but the RH-910 does not have a backlight. If you are gonig to use it for what I think you are. That is stealth recording. Then I suggest you just cut the tracks afterwards. Save some money that way but if you want that OLED which is pretty freakin' sweet then go for it. Not sure for about the 910 but my RH10 didn't come with a stand. Which is a US model. But then you don't really need it. Power and dls are done at the same time when hooked up to the usb. Good Luck! and welcome to Minidisc a better way of hearing the World.

Oh everything is done through the USB cable, nice.

The USB provides a "supplemental" charge while transferring tracks to and from the unit, but I wouldn't rely on the "supplemental" power to fully charge the unit.

I would definitely recommend the RH10 if you will be doing recordings where decent lighting cannot be guaranteed. The RH910 has neither the OLED display, or a backlit display.

Do some searching around in the forums a bit to see a good many peoples comments and opinions on the RH10. Personally I love my RH10.

Welcome to the forums, gunblade. Cool avatar, and more importantly, Day of Defeat rocks..the HDR graphics, once enabled, are incredible.

Back to business -- want a RH10? How about $219.

Don't trust the retailer? No worries, because their reseller ratings are pretty good. I might have to buy one at this price.

Alright sweet.

So If I were to order the RH10 off of amazon. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ronics&n=172631

Does it come with a blank hi-md disc, charger or anything like that I can not tell... <_<

My RH10 came with a blank HiMD disk, AC adapter, rechargeable battery, dry battery adapter, usb cable, software, remote, earbuds, and even a cool little carrying pouch thing.

as ynos stated, the remote isn't very spectacular... I have the backlit remote that came with my NH900 that I use sometimes, but you aren't able to control any recording functions with the remote (except perhaps setting up the recording beforehand and leaving the unit in rec-pause mode, then using the backlit remote to unpause and start recording, although I have never done this).

I would do some searching around price-wise, you should be able to find some competitive pricing for this unit.

Well if you are looking into Hi-MD you can't go wrong. I just recently jump into md again by getting the MZ-M10 (rebadged of RH910) I was also in the same dillema as you when I was deciding between M10 or M100. I asked myself do I really need the OLED? Furthermore, I did some research between the two unit.

I bought my M10 from Guitar Center, not thru online but where I live. I was able to negotiate with a salesman which was very nice. He saved me 90.00 and I couldn't be more happier back with MD again.

I was glad that I left until the md technologyand give it a chance to developed to more better and reliable recorder. I still like my iPod 40GB but that's another story. Anyhow, if you can get a hold of M10 which comes with microphone and MAC compatible get it. Even RH910, you can't go wrong. I love Hi-MD again...

Good luck! PCM recording rules!!!

But back on topic. Guitar Center eh? I will call them up along with magnolia hi-fi to see if they have any MD shtuff or players. Thanks for the link to the reseller, thats a great price.

A remote is not an issue for me I really don't care about those things heh.
