Mewish
I'm tired of fumbling around with my iPod. CDs scratch easily and are a general pain in the arse. So, I'm looking into MiniDisc. I want something that can:Play music in my carUse as a portable audio playerI've researched the hell out of things, and here's what I've come up with:Car player: JVC KD-M535-BThat choice was relatively easy. I hate the radio, so I'm not going to bother with a JP->US frequency converter, and those MD/CD combos dont appeal to me much as I don't have any CDs.Now I just need a way to make MDs to play, which is where I'm getting confused. I've basically decided on an MZ-RH10 but I still don't know this: can the RH-10 download music onto a non-Hi MD? Also, is there any way to get an RH10 to work with a Mac? I don't need a $400 professional MD, just something current and good looking that can make MDs to play in my car. Anyone have some suggestions for a particular unit? Anyone have some suggestions for a particular unit?the rh10 can put music on MD-formatted standard discs (60/74/80min) but only through the PC->MD connection (not recording by itself, but I guess that's what you want)the rh10 (and other Net/HiMD's that require SS or SB) will nly work under windows...but you could always use Virtual PC and SonicStage on your mac (though it will be slow!)if your only intention is to make MD's from your PC to play in the car, I would look for an older NetMD, as they can be found enormously cheap on ebay and are made by more brands than just Sony I believe (just check the minidisc.org equipment browserhope this helps
Mewish
Yeah, I'm most likely going to go with VirtualPC, as I have recently acquired it. I'm waiting for PriceJapan to tell me how many organs that combination is going to cost. Does anyone have a suggestion for a particular good older MD recorder with line-in?Bought the orange MZ-RH10 off of PriceJapan. $319 shipped. I'll probably do a pictorial on it after I've finished marvelling at its shininess. Edited October 7, 2005 by Mewish
