PCM turns to HiSP on new MZM100?

I recorded several HiMD discs on my recently deceased NH1 in PCM mode.

now I am playing them back on my new MZM100 (Sony actually gave me my $$ back

for the NH1 - that's how to keep a loyal customer, I must say - so I could reinvest it

in the M100, which is what I really wanted)

However, when I try to upload to the Macintosh, the files won't go because they are read

as Hi-SP rather than, what I thought, were PCM.

Any ideas out there ?

Is the PCM recording from the first gen NH1 different from the linear pcm on the

gen 2 machine?

only PCM recorded on the M-models will be uploaded to Mac (it's not the bitrate, but the surrounding data on the disc probably), the software won't work with other models and not with discs recorded in other models, so it will never work for those discs

*correction: seems you can upload PCM recorded on other models (thanks for the info k.)

but the fact that PCM->HiSP is strange...are you sure about this (is it really HiSP or does the software just think it is and are you sure you did record in PCM?)

when my nh1 went south, sony replaced it with a refurbished rh10 - that worked ok for about a week and then i found out why it was refurb in the first place. that's when sony agreed to give me my original purchase price back (from the nh1)

my older pcm recordings showed up as pcm on the display of the rh10, if i am not mistaken.

the display on the M100 reads 'HiMD-HiSP' on the same recordings.

You must've recorded those tracks in Hi-SP. Minidisco informed us a few weeks ago that MZ-M units will allow you to upload any PCM recording, regardless of source.

On every recording that I made on the NH1, I set the recording format to pcm, and the 1G disc usually held about 94 minutes of music.

I'm not sure why the m100 thinks it is hisp?

I am disapponted to hear that only the new M models will upload to the Macintosh. I had hoped that there might be a way for someone to hack the software and allow it to work on earlier HiMD units that would previously only work on the PC. It sounds like it is unlikely that this will ever be possible.

Thank you for your explanation. I guess I need to save up for yet another HiMD purchase. I hope they don't become extinct too soon, and that SONY will continue to manufacture the HiMD media since nobody else appears to do this.
