yaelii
Hi,I have a sony MZN-910 (dont use it very much, so not sure if this is a simple problem or not), but i uploaded some cds onto sonic stage so i could then download them onto my minidisc. Now i've lost the cds, so i would like to try and get the files off sonic stage and make them mp3s (didn't realise that sony converted them to a stupid file format in the first place!), so i\that I can then make a new cd to play in my cd player. Is it possible to do this?????The sonic stage version is 1.5....Also, if i want to upload uni lectures if recorded on my minidisc, can i upload them (i know i cant do it via USB) via sonic stage, or what other program do i use (i'm using win XP)Thanks!!!! A440
Please spare yourself some misery and upgrade to Sonic Stage 3.2, either from www.connect.com or from the standalone installer from Downloads above.SS 1.5 is less a software program than an instrument of psychological warfare. Look at the pinned Software FAQ to see how to uninstall 1.5 completely.http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 And be sure to back up your library first, with the Backup Tool under SonicStage in your Start/Programs. SonicStage 3.2 has an option (under Transfer) to Create an Audio CD. Hard to say whether it will work with your files. You can't upload recorded lectures from a NetMD like your MZN910. But you can record in realtime: connect headphone out to computer line-in, use a recording program like Audacity. Or if you have tracks already edited on the MD, you can partly automate the process with WinNetMD, which will control playback via USB and record each track (in realtime, from headphone out to line-in) as a separate file. Search these boards for WinNetMD or user tmeg.
marcnet
If the omg's are still on your PC then my HIMDRenderer might be able to convert them to mp3 or .wav. Wav is better because you avoid re-encoding.http://www.marcnetsystem.co.uk/himd/

yaelii
Ok,I uninstalled sonicstage 1.5, and put on 3.2 instead...However, it wouldn't let me make a CD, said it "Cannot load the rights information for the selected tracks"... Tried reuploading the files off a minidisk i have of it from a MZNH1 that i just bought, but got the same kind of message, and couldn't add it to the computer...Had no problems making a cd off the stuff i have from napster (gives you a great incentive to do it the legit way with cds you have bought when you have this kind of trouble... grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)marcnet - I tried using the program of yours, but it doesn't even show that the files are in the folders that i try to convert... Could it be because they weren't uploaded from a hi-md, just a net-md???Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do... I hate sony and i'm going crazy... all i want is my songs back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks for all your help..
A440
First of all, you can't upload from a NetMD or from tracks made with a NetMD. Those tracks go from PC to MD only. Initially you put the tracks in My Library--converted them from the CD to .omg--and then checked them out--put them on your MD. A one-way trip. Now you are trying to do what Sony feared: put files on an MD and then--gasp!!!!--copy them. As far as Sony is concerned, if you don't have the CD in your possession, you're not supposed to move the songs around. Yes, this is stupid. Because you used 1.5, which only allowed a certain number of checkouts, SonicStage may have locked the files to prevent further copying. You may have thought you had rights to your own music, but SonicStage didn't. SonicStage 3.2 allows unlimited checkouts, another reason to switch. It's a long shot, but try running the MDAC Repair Tool. http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/details.php?file=8There's a distant possibility it will help with the "rights information." Can you play the .omg files that are listed in My Library on the PC, with SonicStage as the player? If you can play them, HiMDRenderer should be able to convert them. Marc may have some other advice. As a last resort, you can record the songs from the MD out of the headphone jack in real time. Or you can go to a P2P site and download them again. teamgood
i'm trying to remember back to sonic stage 1.5...did they have the back up tool yet? i would've assumed when you install version 3.2 it'll detect you have an older version of sonic stage and tell you its gonna remove that one and import your files to the new version. i guess that'd be too easy. i've had trouble in the past trying to move .omg files that were made with sonic stage before version 3. do the files still play in sonic stage? if they don't play, but still show in your library they may not actually be there. i've been fooled by that before. and naturally if they're not there, you can't do anything with them.
