Astarte
I have a question though regarding the SonicStage software. I have a load of music on my hard drive and I want to store this on an external hard drive rather than have it cluttering up my everyday computer space. Is there a way to simply pick up My Library and dump it on an external drive, and then import tracks to the PC as and when needed for transfer to other media such as MiniDisc? Even if I can't simply pick up and dump the Library on the external disc I was hoping I could install another copy of SonicStage there so that I could transfer between the libraries of the 2 versions, but when you install it it doesn't seem to give you any option as to where to install it. This doesn't seem like a big ask but I can't see how to do it. Am I just being stupid? Either way could some kindly member point me in the right direction? Many thanksDon Lyon

I store all my non-DRM ATRAC3plus tunes within an external 160 GB HDD enclosure for use between a desktop and sub-notebook without any problem. *Just make sure your external HDD is connected to the desktop/notebook before running SonicStage 3.2.Follow these steps and enjoy your backup chore.1) You will need to set the "Location to save imported files" within SonicStage 3.2 to your designated external USB HDD. (For example: x:\ATRAC Music)2) As mentioned in the preceding paragraph, ensure that your external USB HDD is connected to your PC before running SonicStage 3.2. 3) Ensure that you deselect "Add copy protection" feature prior to importing a CD. Astarte
Hi, it's me again trying to get to know SonicStage.I have managed to change the location to store music. But is there a way to transfer the music currently on my C drive to my G drive (as the external drive is designated)? Is it a case of simply transferring a file of data? From reading other posts I imagine that it might not be as simple as that. When I set up the new location, the My Library window still shows with all the music I have stored on the C drive, but shows a free space appropriate to the G drive (i.e. 55 Gb free instead of 16 Gb on my C drive). But obviously it has not transferred all that music to the G drive (and Windows Explorer still shows the expected space of 16 Gb free on the C drive). What I would really like would be a My Library on the C drive and a My Library on the G drive and a simple drag and drop method of transferring the music between the two. Is that possible? There is probably about 11 Gb of music on the C drive at the moment. Many thanks for your help. I'm sure it's all great once it can be made to work!Don Lyon

If the new default is G drive, then "My Library" will only display all existing information accordingly - previously and future imported tunes. As for transferring existing imported tunes from C to G drive - you can certainly just drag-and-drop those tunes to its designated location provided they are non-DRM imported tunes. Otherwise, you will need to re-import them with no DRM. For organization purposes, you may want to delete (*without actually deleting the files from the computer) the ATRAC3plus tunes located in C drive from the "My Library" and re-import those tunes once more from G drive.Have fun with the backup. Syrius
I think it will be better to select each file individually, convert format (to the same bitrate of course) with the DRM option off. Then drag that Un-DRM-ed file to the external disc.
