sonic_rage
Sony Shows HI-MD Portable Recorders At AES 1GB HiMD MiniDisc-based units offer Macintosh and Windows connectivity (October 12, 2005)Sony recently showed two new Hi-MD portable recorders at the AES Convention. The new MZ-M100 and MZ-M10 Hi-MD MiniDisc-based field recorders are designed for musicians and broadcast professionals, and have been designed to provide superb sound recording and playback capabilities combined with extensive storage capacity at a practical price.“These units represent a significant leap in affordable field recording,” said Paul Foschino, senior manager for professional audio in Sony Electronics’ Broadcast and Production Systems Division. “Their ability to record and play back high-quality uncompressed PCM linear audio and transfer those files directly to computers for editing represents a tremendous savings in time. These capabilities, coupled with long battery life and a large, easy-to-read LCD display address the real-world needs of recording engineers and broadcast and print journalists.”The new recorders, with removable 1GB HiMD MiniDiscs, allow up to 94 minutes of uncompressed recording time and as much as 34 hours in ATRAC3 plus format. The low-cost Hi-MD media, which has a suggested list price of $7, gives users an extremely efficient and cost-effective option for data transfer and for archiving their original recordings.i thought they gave up?!
