Athos56
Ok I've searched for this answer, and maybe I'm not phrasing my queries correctly so I decided to ask. I've read on the forum that Sony eased up on the DRM lately, but is that a function of the SS software or an internal change in the player itself? I'm a PC user and understand that the M100/M10 are "suppost" to add Mac support, but what I want to know is; Would I get the same "absence" of DRM with the RH10/RH910 using the latest verion of SS or would I need to buy the M100 or M10? Basicly I want to deal with as little DRM as I possibly can do I have to get the M100/M10 or can I get the same funtionality with the RH10/910 and the latest version of SS.Ok thats the same question 3 differnt ways hopefully one of them makes sense. Thanks
The Low Volta
first, the mac compatibility and abscence of DRM are two very different and even unconnected things, the M-models just have some internal software that allows PCM recordings to be transferable to Macbut you can (with any HiMD-model) avoid the DRM-crud by:- unchecking the "add DRM when importing music into the library" checkbox in SS 3.2- converting your imported recordings to wav (with the internal wav converter in SS 3.2) so you have DRM free recordingsso you can just back up your atrac library by burning it as data to a DVD and reimporting, and you can share the same library on different PC's... but I guess you can't download songs from your PC -> MD and upload them again on another PC (and not with mac either I suppose)

ThanksWith SonicStage 3.2, you can import tracks from CD without DRM (provided you deselect "add copy protection"). This is great if you intend to archive your tunes in ATRAC3plus for use between different system. However, you can't use your existing Hi-MD devices (be it 1st or 2nd generation units) to transfer ATRAC tunes that was transferred/encoded via SonicStage 3.2 to other PCs; DRM restriction is still present in the device itself. Please note: You can however, drag-and-drop non-DRM encoded ATRAC tunes into the Hi-MD discs as data files and re-import it to another PC with SonicStage 3.2. I'm going to use it for field recordings running through the optical in from a Deneche AD-20 and a pair of mic's, Now I need to figure out what color Thanks again
