I've had this for a couple of years...it's only until recently that it refuses to record anything at all...

I connect it to my computer..the USB/Plug'n'Play noise comes up...but it is not recognized in SonicStage 3.2...

And what's worse is that I can't even delete the tracks using my NetMD...I get "SAVED"...and I get no access to it...

My solution was temporary ...I used a Sony MZ-N505 Type R to record and then just play it back on the MZ-N510...

I recently got a new USB cable...but now the N505 is not being recognized in SonicStage...I will have to find the other cable and see how it goes...

But, in the meantime...I'd really like to know what happened to my N510?? I mean, this is pathetic, it shouldn't happen...can anyone tell me why? Or ask me any questions that might have led to that condition??

Check to see if the MD you are using has the write-protect tab flicked on. This is the cause for "SAVED" messages.

Nothing is wrong with your cable. Most likely a software issue. Try re-installing SonicStage and the OpenMG Secure Module as detailed in our Software FAQs.

Hi...I tried reinstalling it...I am from Australia...and the only versions of SonicStage I could find are the US, and Cananda version...

Anyway...I have reinstalled, and the computer failed recognize it..

However, this time, I have bought MZ-NHF800 (for a bargain too) and used it as a diagnosis...it was software related...but I tried everything...in the end, I ended up installing the old SonicStage 2.1, from what I can see...I don't think there's anything wrong with the older version...

The newer version to me just seems like it has a Connect store, but that's just preliminary glance (REALLY briefly)...so...yea..

Everything's cool now..

By the way, ANY news that SonicStage MIGHT be released for Australia/Asia/Europe??

By the way, when the NetMD says 'SAVED' I've already checked the tab...had NOTHING to do with it...the tab was never touched anyway, but I checked it...and the NetMD is now collecting dust..

the biggest problems with older SS versions are related to uploading your own recordings... if you need to do that, please try to upgrade to 3.2!

- 3.2 allows multiple uploads (for the first time! no other SS version does this)

- any version <2.3 is known to randomly corrupt uploads and render discs unusable (later versions do this as well, but only after editing the disc prior to uploading, so never edit before uploading and you should be safe with >2.3)

- and one that's useful for non-recordists as well: 3.2 allows to import music without DRM so that you can share your library and back up easily (without the SS back up tool)

so it really is best to use 3.2... and if it really won't work, I'd say it is about time to clean your PC :P nah, just kidding, but really it should work on a PC that's ok
