mercury_in_flames
Well i will say that that my thoughts are on a pair of phones that are right out of the box, so things will change i assume. Out of the box: there isnt much bass to speak of unfortunatly, although the clarity is pretty good. My former mdr-q55's had trebble that sounded like this right of the box, a tad harsh. When i first listened to the q55's i thought 'these are crap', While this isnt the case with the fc7's, I am hoping a bit of burn in will increase the bass, and make the trebble a bit less harsh. We'll see. From what i can hear, these are better suited to dance/trance music, although will be better for listening to rock music than say, my ath-a900's. Looks: Well these things do look pretty sleek. The metallic blue makes them stand out, in a good way of course. Comfort; Well i can defintely say that my ex81;s are more comfortable. These have a sort of spring that makes you pull the pads down a bit to suit how the height of your ears, and for their folding design, they are made to want to fold in, meaning you get a tad bit of presure pushing inwards. This does not compare anywhere near to the pain of using over ear clip on phones, the mdr-q55's. I will wear these for another 20 mins and report back.Design: These puppies fold similar to the style of a pair of px100's in the sense that there are hinges, except that instead of the pads being flat when folded and side by side, these pads are up against eachother. The rubber on the cable is better quality than that of my ex81's but I am pretty sure that if anything goes in a year, it will be the hinges. Pics to come.Link to pictorial: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?act=m...album&album=
mercury_in_flames
Well i know now why the phones werent that comfortable. When you open them up, you have to pull the phones- extend them, till you get a click. Unfortunatly, my head seems to be 'too small' for the fitting haha, I will have to consider whether their design is slick enough to compensate for me wearing them over a hat
AMPlitude
very nice, are they heavy at all?
mercury_in_flames
they;re actually very light, The material is plastic, not metal if thats what you were thinking. As far as comfort goes, i think i will be sticking to my ex81's for home use for rock. I will take these puppies out, they look too good not to, but if they dont get more comfortable, then they will go the same was as my q55's unfortunatly. AMPlitude
has the bass become more prominent after burn-in?
mercury_in_flames
Actually it has, but the headband at the top still pushes down too hard, The reason being is that you have to fully pull them open to stop them wanting to spring back to the smallest setting, otherwise when you have them at a height setting that suits you, it will just get uncomfortable. But anyway, they do look the shit, so if i do wear them, it wont be for huge lengths of time.
mercury_in_flames
It seems all is not lost I was wearing these out while cycling today, and for some reason they are alot more comfortable. Maybe its just a placebo, but still at least now i can wear them for their sound and not solely for their looks
