topguntone
hi guyspretty new to this mini disc music transfer lark so looking for some advice please.I have a sony NZ-nh1 mini disk and I have bought it primerily for recording stuff off the TV and off video/DVD through the TV and transferring it onto my computer with the intention of ultimately trasferring it onto my ipod!! Now is that far fetched or what!!!!!!! Can this in theory be done and how.? It says in the sonic stage manual that you cannot download anything that has been recorded from an external source especially through a microphone which throws my live recording theory out of the window and does this also apply to stuff off the TV?I have recorded something off the video through the TV and it plays on the 1 GB disk NO WORRIES. Now I need to get it onto my computer through sonic stage but firstly the device is not registering through the USB connection to transfer files onto my computer. what am I doing wrong. Do I need some kind of interface or gizmo in order to bypass the fact that it has been taped off the TV? Why is it not allowing me to transfer stuff when it plays on the mini disc so well. Do I need to set up the Mini disc machine itself in order for it to read a certain music file format so that the sonic stage can recognise it? Is it that the computer is not recognising the mini disc because the file format on the mini disc is not set up correctly?is there a way around downloading stuff that I have taped in a live concert environment onto my computer through sonic stage or do I have to convert this taped stuff on the mini disk into something else?Sonic stage seems a pretty logical software to use very much like itunes I cannot understand why the computer is not registering the mini disc through the USB port yet it does my digital camera?Lots of questions can someone out there PLEASEHELPtony
bobt
You will need SS3.2 or 3.3 and should have recorded through line in or mic, then you should be able to upload.Good luck, but why not just leave it on the NH1 rather then double coding it for the puddle??Bob
Sunny
Since I'm quite new to Hi-MD, I'm not sure how reliable this information is.I have a sony NZ-nh1 mini disk and I have bought it primerily for recording stuff off the TV and off video/DVD through the TV and transferring it onto my computer with the intention of ultimately trasferring it onto my ipod!! Can this in theory be done and how.? Check out this pinned thread in the Software Support/FAQs subforum.I have recorded something off the video through the TV and it plays on the 1 GB disk NO WORRIES. Now I need to get it onto my computer through sonic stage but firstly the device is not registering through the USB connection to transfer files onto my computer. what am I doing wrong. I read that other people have had this problem, try searching (find a post written by Kurisu, which has the search link in his signature) to find an answer. I think I read that Dex or A440 recommended that people plug their player in via USB before opening SonicStage (like Bobt says, make sure it's version 3.2 or 3.3 - you can download both of these from the forum download section. Make sure you do a clean software installation - remove the any previous versions, follow these instructions.)Why is it not allowing me to transfer stuff when it plays on the mini disc so well. Did you record digitally from your TV? I mean using an optical cable? I don't think SonicStage will upload digital recordings, I think it will only upload analogue recordings. Both analogue and digital recordings will play fine on your Hi-MD. If you're not recording digitally, I don't know why it doesn't work, sorry.Do I need some kind of interface or gizmo in order to bypass the fact that it has been taped off the TV? I don't think so. Do I need to set up the Mini disc machine itself in order for it to read a certain music file format so that the sonic stage can recognise it? No. (Don't think so.)Is it that the computer is not recognising the mini disc because the file format on the mini disc is not set up correctly?Think that file format should be correct, but not sure why your computer isn't recognising your player, like I said, search the forums.is there a way around downloading stuff that I have taped in a live concert environment onto my computer through sonic stage or do I have to convert this taped stuff on the mini disk into something else? If you can't get it to upload directly, you could try analogue recording in real time. Check out the uploading link above for "NetMD + Older MD unit users".So just to summarise:* Check out the uploading info thread.* Search the forums for info on PCs not recognising players.* Check whether you're recording digitally from your TV - using an optical cable. If you are, I would change to making analogue recordings, but I don't know whether or to what degree this degrades the quality of the recording...* Check you have SonicStage version 3.2 or 3.3 and if not, cleanly install.Good luck! tommypeters
If you have made a digital recording you should have a look at Hi-MD Renderer.
