cirdan
Whenever I attempt to transfer MP3s to convert to attrac and load onto the player I get the following message:"Cannot load the rights information for the selected tracks. The file format may not be supported by SonicStage."Is there some reason why SS 3.3 won't recognise the MP3 files ? cirdan
Welcome to the forums. Where did you get the mp3's?P2P.I take it SS doesn't like P2P files ?Is there any way around this problem ?I can convert with Cdex to wave then convert with SS to attrac but that seems to be a long way around.Cirdan
A440
It shouldn't have anything to do with P2P--as long as they're good mp3 files SonicStage will transfer them. It can't tell whether you got them from P2P. But a lot of P2P files are low-quality. SonicStage sometimes chokes on low-bitrate (48 kbps) or variable bit rate files. You might as well convert them, and make sure you get higher-bitrate versions of whatever you're downloading next time.

timonoj
Same problem here.... I didn't had that much problems on SS3.2. Is there any major difference between these two versions? I mean, appart from those new encoding options, the audio quality on the other codecs remains the same? I have two computers, I took some time ago one of them to be fixed (some mobo problems) and I kept the other one. The one that I kept has now SS3.3 and is a pain in the ass with all the p2p mp3 files, while the old 3.2 version didn't annoy me that much...And caught songs and entire folders by the classical drag&drop way, the new 3.3 doesn't catch any more than one song per time...I was happier with the old 3.2 Again, is there any encoding quality difference? Or, at least, do you know how to fix these problems? Thanks!

I click on "Import Music Folder" and direct SS to the [cd] "D:" drive. The songs do "upload" as they show up in My Library but remain in mp3 format. When I attempt to convert them to ATRAC3 so they can be heard from my PC speakers, I either get an "omgjbox.exe has encountered a problem and will shut down" error, or an error that cites triplet of possible reasons "location/format/rights". Unsure what do do next. Some of these posts say to used MDAC repair tool and hope for the best. Some say to try converting the mp3s to wav format and then convert to ATRAC3. What program converts mp3s to wav for free? I have no experience with either solution and am hoping that an expert out there can help! I swear in the past I was able to convert mp3s from a borrowed burnt data data to ATRAC3 for playing on my PC and transfering to my NetMD player. It looks like I can no longer do that. I have reinstalled everything -- 3 times over and am super fed up. I will give it one more chance before I give up and just convert to itunes for the sake of my sanity. akijikan
It's in the downloads section and its called DBPowerAmp.It's pretty much the best music converter out there. It's modular and you can install/uninstall different codecs as needed to convert different.
timonoj
Even easier: Your winamp player can do the same as well...On preferences, output plugins, choose Nullsoft Disk Writer Plug-In, and then choose format-destination on the config tab. Then, instead of playing the music on your speakers, it will record it with the chosen codec, on the chosen folder in your hard drive. For others like mp3 encoding, I don't know how good does it behave(so I use Cool Edit), but for wav encoding you don't need something really cool...It's just raw data! Syrius
If you got Nero wave editor and the plug-ins, you can also open and convert those Mp3 to WMA lossless instead of wav, which SonicStage also takes. Or try Jetaudio as well. It will convert from any format to any other, except to MP3.
ddardani
Thanks guys for the quick repsonses. Sony "customer support" tried to tell me that reinstalling SSv.3.3 with my firewall off and antivirus disabled would fix the problem. I told the technician that I highly doubt that it would fix my errors, but I decided to try it anyway. Of course, they were wrong. I gave up trying to get help from Sony.So then, as you all suggested, I just downloaded DBpoweramp and converted the tracks to .wav and finally got them running as ATRACs on Sonic Stage. It still isn't perfect, but thanks for the workaround guys. My party on Saturday night thanks you too.

I looked at lots of reviews and comparisons before I went with this program and it's never failed me.
