jamesj
well im looking into buying a new minidisk player in the next couple of months, i was honestly going to buy a ipod but i was reading about ipod having a 2 second gap in mix cds, i dont really like apple that much, so im thinking about sticking with a mini disk. primarilly ill be using my minidisk player for work, currently i have a "mzn420d" and i really fell in love with the ease of it, i own all the cds i put on it so that isnt a problem, but im looking at either a "Sony MZ-RH910" or a "Sony MZ-M10", i know this seems like a big jump froma basic player to a advanced player, but im wanting to record with it. See i dj and im wanting to record the sets and burn them to cd, these choices seem perfect for what im wanting but i do have some questions i was reading posts and i just wanted to clarify.1. i read that when you have a adapter plugged into the player when you ae recording you get artifacts? is this true?2. can i add track markers to the dj sets?and will the trackmarkers stil be included in the cd after i burn it? 3.when i transfer the cds to the computer will it be a wave file? im not to worried about the face getting scratched or anything the player i have right now has been functioning fine even after the job i have i work in a archeology department cleaning artifacts so im around dust all the time, there was a time i had to buy a cleaner for the lens but other than that it works perfect, im proablly not going to be taking the new one to work, but i am wanting something different, so let me know what you all think of these players and your experience with these models please!!! thanx alot... akijikan
I myself have not heard of the artifacts from using an adapter while recording. There is a manual track mark button and then there is a auto track mark that you can set. You can have it place a track mark every x minutes and x can equal 1-99.Not only can you make your uploads wav, you record in linear PCM with no compression. I can't say enough good things about the unit. It is just a hi-md player; great battery life; great playback; light & compact. You'll need the remote since there is no display on the unit itself. I use it every weekday during my commute (4 hours/day). I use a leather case (from MinidiscAccess) that clips to my belt. The EH1 is thin enough to fit in the case with 2 discs.I hope this helps.ks
A440
What computer do you want to upload your recordings to? The only reason to pay the premium price for the M10 is to use it with a Mac. With a PC you can use the RH10, it's the same unit except for Mac compatibility. And the RH910 is the same unit minus a fancy light-up display on the unit. Some people have gotten artifacts from an AC adapter--it probably depends on your power mains. But one AA Duracell (in the outboard pod) plus the gumstick should last you the length of the disc, if not longer. You can put track marks in the file as you record it or place them afterward. The only thing you can't do, because of a bug, is remove track marks on the disc after placing them. It will still play back, but the upload may not work. But you can upload tracks and then combine them on the computer with SonicStage. Once you have uploaded the wav files and gotten them out of SonicStage (convert to .wav), you can burn the .wav tracks to CD, gapless if you prefer. Whatever unit you get, make sure you install a version of SonicStage that is at least 3.2. An earlier disc may come with your unit--don't use it.
