ok i was running windows ME and i have sonicstage 1.5

my pc got messed up for various reasons and i had to whipe it. i had all my music on mini disks already so i though i could just re install sonicstage again after whipe and get all the music from my minidisks.

so whiped my pc and Upgraded to windows XP pro service pack 2 and installed sonicstage. but now when i try to transfer songs to my pc from MD player it sais my pc is not an original PC and wont lete me tranfer them. is there anyway i can fix this so they will transfer onto my pc?

thanks

SS 1.5 + a NetMD player (you don't specify which one) = no transfer capabilities from MD to PC. You need WinNetMD to do that. I think it is available in the download section.

EDIT: Sorry, I just looked and it is not in the download section. The software is not free. I checked the only link I have to it and the page seems to be down. Anyone have a mirror?

my netMD is a Sony Walkman MZ-N510 Type-S

i just got sonicstage 3.3 and it is saying the same thing as the older version that the music is from an original pc and it wont let me transfer it on my pc?

Yeah, the N510 is not upload capable. Only Hi-MD units can upload. You really need WinNetMD or you have to record realtime to your sound card in wav format.

the latest version of Marcnet's HiMD-Renderer (just donate something if you use it though) offers the same stuff as WinNetMD and free stuff like audacity can let you capture the music as well

IIRC the pseudo-error "the music is not from the original pc" links back to the good old days :P of very strict DRM that would allow only three check-outs so you needed to check songs in before you could use them again... the songs actually needed to be on the PC for this to work so even if your PC would still be recognized as the originating one, you would still be lost...
