packbarry
Hi,I would like to know if anyone has a suggestion for a player that I can use on stage to play the tracks that I sing with. I assume I can go from the headphone out jack to a 1/4" input on most stages or boards. I have a JE360 recorder/player at home to record my discs, but need something portable to use on stage. Anyone have suggestions for what I need to be looking for in a portable player and maybe what models would be good?
The Low Volta
any player that can handle the format you record in (if it's SP, any player will do) will be suitable... one with a dedicated line-out would be very good (you could check the minidisc.org equipment browser to see what models offered on the net etc actually are)and just so you do not end up on stage without music one night... make sure you have a backup disc and an extra player just in case (NetMD/MDLP players can be found very cheap, so this shouldn't be that much of a extra cost, but it can save your behind!) A440
For a player only, you can find the NH600D for under $100 (D means it will also download music from your computer via USB, but it does not have any recording input--you'd use your deck for that). Runs a long time on a Duracell, and so far mine has been pretty sturdy. It doesn't come with a remote but it does have an input that will accept one. Get two, they're cheap. For the equivalent of line out, just turn the volume all the way up and make sure the EQ is set to Normal. Or get an NH700--with recording capability--while Minidisc Canada has the closeouts. http://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopdisplay...iniDisc+Players Edited December 30, 2005 by A440
The Low Volta
those are valuable recommendations, but as your deck isn't HiMD (at least I guess it isn't) any MDLP-player (which can get a lot more battery life and better builds than HiMD-models + are cheaper) will do
