803cd
I am thinking of buying an Arcam Dica CD192 CD player - does anyone know if this will succesfully do sync recording with my MZ-NH900? Thanks!
akijikan
Any CD player with an optical output is capable of sync recording with a minidisc recorder. The is is because sync recording is a operation that is all on the MD. It simply monitors the level of the optical input and doesn't record as long as there is no signal, but as soon as the signal starts, it starts recording.BTW, to answer your question, yes it will work since the Arcam Dica CD192 CD player does have optical output. This method can actually copy tracks exactly as they are layed out on the CD being played. Many players do not offer this feature. The second follows levels and creates tracks the same way as recording via the analogue line-in.Either way, this player should work assuming it indeed has an optical-out. akijikan
Ah, I haven't heard of the subcode method. How we know if a player is using this method? Is it in the manual? Is it a deck-recorder feature?

Is it a deck-recorder feature?I couldn't be certain, to be honest. The only way to tell if it's actually using it would be to try and see what happens .. whether trackmarks end up in identical spots or not, basically. I doubt most equipment would even specify in their manuals whether they support this or not, too.I'm willing to bet though, that at least Sony's home equipment have this features. 803cd
Thanks - I think the real q is whether the player has the subcode as this gives the best sync? No info in the player's manual - has anyone got one?
