MD on Apple?

Yes, there have been plenty of threads how Sonic Stage doesn't work on Macs and that you would need Virtual Pc and then it would be slow (for me, someone who was the newest iBook with 54 free gigs, using 3.5 just for one MD player would be dumb). Are there any other programs that will work to put songs on an MD player from an Apple? Would iTunes work? Any response would be appreciated and is much needed as there is a model on eBay that i am interested in. Thanks

There is no software for Mac OS that would allow you to transfer music onto minidisc. You have 2 choices:

1) Consider investing in a cheap PC to initiate transfers. I'm pretty much working with an old 800Mhz Pentium III that my friend gave to me (it was collecting dust in his garage). I use that machine strictly for my Hi-MD portables.

2) Or you can choose to do transfers to minidisc in real-time via line-in (just make sure to invest in USB optical-out adapter for the best quality recordings).

I've tried Virtual PC in the past, but it never worked out for me. SonicStage would run (really, really slow), and I was able to load MP3's onto it, but the software would hang if I tried transferring to my NetMD. From that point on, I decided that it wasn't worth the effort.

P.S. Have you considered iPod? I did, but I didn't like the idea of my thumb spinning for decades just to find one artist. I do have to say that the black iPod Video is indeed sexy. But is it sexier than my blue MZ-RH10? I think not. :D

Funny thing really. Mine was stolen this week. I want to get a MD player because the battery lasts 3 times as long, is not internal, and it's a stable machine in general. I have a PC. but I am moving to university and I don't want to have to rely on lab computers to put songs onto my disk. I guess I will have to buy a good USB key so that I can transfer songs from my laptop to a PC and then I can copy them. Ok, thx.

The MZ-M100 is Apple compatible if you upload PCM files.
but it still has no option for downloading music from mac A440... so it might be confusing to mention the M-models here as 'mac-compatible' is understood by the general public (well anyone except Sony  ) to work in both ways, which it doesn't :P

but still, if you have some money to spare, consider an M-model, won't allow you to download music (from mac->MD) but still you would be able to upload (MD->mac) your own recordings made in PCM

Is the software included with the M models to transfer to a Mac model specific or can it be used on other models such as the MZ-RH910? I maily use a mac but have a vaio laptop which I use for my MD stuff. I'd rather use my mac since I have all of the proper editing software on it. If this new software is backwards compatible then does anyone have it and would you be willing to hook me up?

I don't think it is compatible with other models (or the PCM has to be recorded on an M-model to be understood by the mac) but anyway, without an M-model you won't be getting anywhere IIRC (there is a very complete pinned thread about the mac ability and software on these forums, search for it a bit)

if you have a PC and a mac and you want to edit on mac, why not just upload, convert to wav, transfer to mac and edit... sounds easier (well cheaper) than getting an M-model :P

PS: the mac software is (or at least was) downloadable from the downloads section...but then again, as I already said, it won't be of any use
