zachg
Can you only upload uncompressed audio from hi-md via the usb port? Descriptions of the product have led me to believe that this would be the case, but clarification is always clearer. Thanks.
KrazyIvan
PCM wav is uncompressed and, yes, it can be uploaded via USB. So can Hi-SP modes (256 kbps), and Hi-LP (I forget the compression rate). SP mode is legacy compressed mode at 292 kbps. I have not tried it but I doubt it can be uploaded conventionally since you would have to be in NetMD (and using a 1st gen Hi-MD unit) mode to record it.There are other ways of "uploading" that require third party software but I have not tried them. The Low Volta
- all HiMD-recordings (i.e. in HiSP, HiLP or PCM) can be digitally uploaded through USB to PC (to mac only PCM and only with an M-model) and if the USB uploading fails, you can also rerecord digitally by playing the trach through the computer (through USB) and capturing the signal with TotalRecorder- ALL other recordings (including LP/SP recordings made with HiMD-recorders) can't be uploaded to computer, they can be in realtime rerecorded on computer (PC and mac) digitally (with an MD-deck with optical out and comp with optical in) or analoguely (MD 'headphone/line out' to comp 'line/mic in')...this can be made easier with some third party software (like WinNetMD and with a similar feature in marcnet's brilliant HiMDRenderer) which uses the USB connection on NetMD-capable models to get track info and devide the rerecorded stuff on computer into correct tracks again, but this is still rerecording in realtime and not uploading. The TR-method won't work either as you cannot play pre-HiMD recordings (including those made in pre-HiMD atrac-types on a 1st gen HiMD) through USB
