Skradgee Posted January 15, 2006 Report Share Posted January 15, 2006 Hey all, I'd really appreciate some insight on this one...Does anyone know if it is possible to fix damaged SHN files? I seem to remember something from one of my computer classes about compressed data becoming worthless if it gets corrupted, but is that really the case? I downloaded a concert recording, and all the files fail the .md5 check. I assume each file has the same problem, since each one decodes into a 4KB wav file that doesn't play. Is there a tool that will decode through errors, or fix the files? I'm not afraid to open them in a text editor and try removing some extra data that is causing the errors. raintheory Posted January 15, 2006 Report Share Posted January 15, 2006 (edited) I'm not sure how helpful this may be, but SHNTool is a command-line utility that you can use to examine and fix SHN files. I've never used it myself, but may be worth a try. I beleive it comes with a tutorial...Let us know how you make out!
